I'm curious. I posted a few things in the old 'used gear/great deals' thread, and got a TON of responses. I put up a couple classified ads on the new version of the site, and haven't even gotten a single pm. what do you guys think?

Are the classified showing up on the front page? I don't think so. Honestly other then the community forum (and lately the suggestion and feedback forum) I don't really check out much else that doesn't show up on the front page of RC. I wish the front page showed more then just the 10 most recent threads that have been posted to, maybe the 20 most recent would be better. Probably sticking a little spot on the front page that randomly showed like 5 or 10 of the items in the classified section would help to see stuff easier. Jason

I think that a lot of people are just getting used to the new site and it will take time for them to adjust to new changes and to take advantage of all of the new features this new site has to offer. In time you will get responses to your ad... just be patient and you'll see.

I'm interested in your RP's but there's two things holding me back, A) don't want to dish out 50 bucks right now, if I could go 25 this week 25 next that would work and B) even though their well renowned pieces, I'm still a newbie to trad climbing, so I really don't have much use for them right now even though they are apparently a pretty hard to come by commodity. I check the classifieds daily though, to answer your questions.

I have checked the classifieds out a fewtimes. It would be better if they were in a forum. I only look when I happen to see the tab or there are no new posts in threads. I used to check the used gear thread first everytime before.

CI: are you giving up the silly trad charade and coming back to the darkside of sport climbing? Like, say, sport climbing at New Jack?? (ok, I gotta admit, these new smileys are cute. Big, but cute.)

Yes I did had a look yesterday but, like I said I don't need any more gear. I think it will take a while before all of us get used to new format.

I'm looking everyday. Still getting use to the new site though. Don't likes - Used gear deal categories - liked it better when everything was on one list. Only 10 curent topics on the front page. Likes - Finally have access to this site without timing out. Replies noted - keeps me from having to read a long thread. I prefer short ones and moving to the next. Although this may be something old - but now it's on the front page too. Sorry - I don't buy used pro. Bad for your health.

I just checked out the gear classifieds, and must agree with the above: split up into categories, with only the most recent ads shown, does a disservice to the whole point of classifieds ads. i was to BROWSE.

I must be missing something. When I click on "Classifieds", either up top or in the list on the left, I get a search dialog screen. If I want to just browse what folks are offering, I can't do it. So to answer your Q, no. I have "looked at" (as in looked for) the Classifieds for the last time. Bring back the Used Gear forum!

Where did the feedback thread go? Can you make it "sticky" onto the Classified page? I have some flaky people I need to flame I'd like it better if, when I clicked on a category, categories were linked to a page with all ads fully shown, most recent first. As it is, when I click on a category, I get taken to an index page, and then have to click again to see an ad.

I don't bother, I don't see a point. There are too many "Hot Deals" it isn't worth my time.

hmm, maybe I should have been more clear. I'm not trying to see if people who won't buy used gear will look at the classifieds and buy used gear. I'm wondering if people know that the Classifieds are even there, seeing as how it's in a much different format from the old used gear/great deals thread. I only ask, because from past experience, if you posted something good FS, you'd get a lot of responses. Even a lot of nonsense responses, from people trying to lowball you! Now, it's nothing, and I've got some good stuff posted!

I think the problem is twofold. Noone looks becauseit is in a different place and there are lot's of people just not visiting now.
