I got a 3 month gym membership and a gift certificate to a climbing gear site. I'll probably end up with some more chalk, some draws, and a rope bag.

That's why I'm so specific about any climbing related gift... I've used the #3 a few times, but the #1 and #2 spell instant death ( or at the very least one hell of a whipper when you rip them out)

I didn't get much climbing gear for Christmas. I used some Christmas money to buy myself a Metolius crash pad. My girlfriend got me a really bright and small flashlight and one of those pocket knife/multi tool things. I also got a book that gave directions, camping info, and other useful info for 25 bouldering locations across the country. It didn't have anything in OR but I'm planning a road trip soon so hopefully I'll be able to use it. I also got a bunch of gift cards that I haven't used yet. I'm starting the whole "which protection do I want to buy first" debate with myself. I want to practice placing gear on the ground so I get a better idea of what good placement is before I bug someone to help me learn to trad climb.

You must have been a naughty girl this year to get stuff like that. Either way you hurt Santa's feelings, so next year you'll get another ugly picture frame, a broken calculator, and he'll steal your Ipod while he's leaving the other crap. Jason

I think they were a last minute gift, she is a climber, doesn't know much about trad. My main presents (box of holds) clinked like trad gear so I think she got me the 3 smallest sizes so I could buy the set (#4-#13) and have a whole set.... I know they might not be the most used, but they are my first pieces of trad gear. I was so sure that the holds were gear, turned out the bolts for the holds were what was clinking, I think she didn't want to see my hopes crushed when it wasn't trad gear, not that they would have been.... that much
