well, lets discuss this thing... i think the best way would be to summarize which areas are best at what time of the year for each country. then we can move on to some general suggestions for travel plans, you know for those 'coming to europe for <insert time here>, what do you reccomend' ppl.

Let's see... Maybe we should start with whats common in all European countries: - Cheap Flights - Interrail (does that still exist?) - ... And I'd add a climate table like that:
I added the table as excel sheet. Maybe we can also use this or something similar in the countries' overview to be more locally precise) - Daniel

i would make it more general with like top 10 areas to visit, choosing trad, sport, bouldering and mountaineering venues for diversity and quality. If you do it by country it will become too cumbersome - that's what the general country description page is for. It will never be all-comprehensive so it's not worth it striving for that, but mainly a useful starting point with links to cheap travel, lodging, and some precision on climate/geography/languanges/culinary specialties... what about each person working on some small part of it?

And I'm totally with you that most of the info will be better seated on the different coutries' overview.

Sounds good! But let's just do a little more brainstorming before we finally decide what to do. So keep it coming folks! - Daniel

sure...what about moving this discussion into the 'area managers' forum? we had this forum once with useful weather websites for europe...would be nice to integrate it or link it in the presentation page, as well as the eurofreaks forum and maybe siting users one can contact to get information on a specific country/area or to find partners in a country/spot.

It's a pity that the old 'users who live in that area' thing is gone. But it was countrywide anyway. Currently I'm begging people from Germany (more Krauts here than I expected...) to write something about their preferred areas. I will ask them if they want to have credits on the text. And there's still the linked pictures for a hint - Daniel
