Where can i pick some up on the internet... I tried GearExpress, REI and Moosejaw... Most just have pitons and regular hooks... As i haven't been climbing long enough to feel 'worthy' to pound pins(completely different subject... I'll explain by PM if someone needs one), I want to buy some camming hooks to go with my regular hooks.

Hey Dr. Feelgood: Not that you asked but... Have fun with your camming hooks.
As an FYI, there are four sizes. The most useful ones for avoiding nailing are probably the two smallest. The third smallest (second largest) works in slightly larger places where a small cam would do. The largest of all, the fragile flake hook, isn't used much (I don't think, anyway).
If you get to the point that you are cam hooking for speed rather than (good) style, then maybe get the other two sizes.

You can buy them through Liberty Mountain and Advanced Base Camp, although they don't show them on their website, but they are in the catalogs, so I dunno why their not on the website.

i've had a lot of bad luck with the large fragile flake camming hook - i find it way to flexible for my 180lb body and 40lbs of gear. The regular leeper and small leepers are great though - fast and would even hold a small fall in some cases.

Don't buy Pika cam hooks. They are much lower quality then the leeper cam hooks. I've talked with more than one person who broke the pikas.

PIKA SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wouldn't hang my empty solo tag rack off those fucking hooks.....last time i used my ONE pika cam hook, ahem, i fucking hammered 'er in home cus i was out of KBs
the #3 flat flake hook is the ONLY good and useful product they make
they need to make alot of changs before i get anything else by them...

I'd have to voice some discontent with kate's statement, but only on one minor point...
the only falls I've taken from Leeper cam-hooks have involved the micro cam-hook... perhaps because I've attempted to use it in "clean" desperation when a different tool (thin iron)would have been more effective.
Oh well, I still carry it on my rack of hooks, but I don't carry two of them as I do the "medium" and "large" sizes. Those bastards are indispensable, for "clean" and "speed" purposes.
As far as the "Pika" stuff goes... I've heard such sentiment on more than one occasion. One only needs to examine them in comparison to leeper's to see why.

the metal they are made from is obviously a much lighter weight. On several of their cam hooks I have seen that they have given the metal a slight curve bend in the spoon end, which was probably intended to give the thing more rigidity, but will also limit the placement to cracks wide enough to fit the entire thing into.
From personal experience, I can attest to the need for the entire thing to be strong. A leeper med. cam hook once caught me in a 6' daisy fall on a relatively slabby section (p 15 Zod, 20' off the belay), which kept me from a full-on factor 2 pendulum on the anchor itself.
The arm was slightly tweeked at the bend into the spoon end, but I still use it to this day... a reminder to be careful when leepfrogging cam hooks with no gear between me and the anchor.

I also want a bat hook or two... and now that my BD talons are on backorder, I'm fiending for them. Someone willing to hook me up with a retailer for some bathooks would be the shit in my book.
