The shirts are totally the best part of the whole event. I mean, everything is rad...but the shirts are that gift that just keeps giving. This year, we're getting AAAAA LLOOOOOOOT more shirts, so we certainly won't have a shortage this year

well, when you live at the new all summer, leaving early one day isn't a big deal i don't normally even climb during the rendezvous so this would be a change. thanks for the tip!

One thing that really makes the rendezvous happen every year is the volunteers....every year, we get a rediculous amount of volunteers, its great! Here's info for Volunteering: http://newriverrendezvous.com/volunteers.html which is from the rendezvous site. See you there! -Dan

Well, I just went to sign up for volunteering. Hopefully I get a cool job like oiling up ladies before a climbing photo shoot, but I guess I would be happy just putting tents up.

Hello kasharp, I'd like to head to the New as many weekends as possible before the summer. I live in Sterling and thought maybe we could exchange info and carpool. Also, I will probably spend a good few weeks living at Rodgers this summer. I spent 2 months 2 summes ago there w/ a few friends and had a blast. I was planning on heading to Boone this weekend with a big group of friends but the weather looks like shit (as usual) If the weather turns out to be rain like they're predicting I might head to the New for the weekend (leave Fri pm and return Sun pm). Even if it rains, I can squeak some climbing in under one of the ampitheatres. Let me know if you're interested in going this weekend and we exchange info. Munky

I saw this thread and I wasted the entire morning shooting off emails, phone calls, and running through the website. I <3 NRR

My wife is going to attend your photo clinic. I told her about your reputation for wearing only the best spandex on the market. :)

Oh, I'll be handing off the camera; I'll likely be the one holding the ladder and or spotting the "camera" as well as the photographer.

I've been tiptoeing around the idea of purchasing my first dslr. I just haven't been able to justify the $800+ for it. Maybe I can now just so I can shoot at NRR.

I've been eyeing up the XTi. But as of now, I really don't know much about them, other than I was looking for an entry level model and the XTi was getting good reviews.

You know, we had so many last year, that we had volunteers managing voluteers. Why do you think its the best rendezvous anywhere? Its not the local crew (all 20 of us), its YOU (and the sponsors of course.)

dbrayack wrote: Its not the local crew (all 20 of us) There are at least 25 of us come summer time. Folks I want to give everybody a heads up. It looks as though there will be a larger police presence at this year's Rendezvous. Some things to keep in mind to stay out of trouble: 1. If you're drinking, please please please do not drive. 2. Carpool! Use designated drivers! 3. Or just bring what you need for the night and stay at the Rendezvous! 4. All dogs have to be leashed. 5. Parking is always scarce at the NRR, so again, carpool, arrive early, plan on staying the night or at least staying until you're done for the evening. Once you leave each night, it will be very difficult to find another parking space. 6. We ran out of beer at around 11PM last year. Hopefully, that won't happen again, but if you want to be prepared, be aware that glass containers are not allowed on Park property. PBR cans? No problemo. 7. Lastly, remember that what you do reflects on all of us. Let's not give them a reason to think even more police are necessary!

Of all the people responding in this thread....more then half are from PA. I understand our state is in desparate need of escaping, but where are the Ohio people coming to the NRR? Any Maryland or Virginia people coming?? There are some pretty quiet states out there.

microbarn wrote: Of all the people responding in this thread....more then half are from PA. That's because WV is like a tumor attached to PA so that technically means that its our state, and therefore we feel obligated to take advantage of the climbing down there to make up for our own inadequate rock supply.

Oh I would certainly agree that we have a nice spread of crags round these parts and I love it here. But nothing here is anywhere close to the New or Seneca.

Hey man, Logtown is cool. That one route, Frodo Lives....it would be a classic "climb the drill marks" route anywhere in the country!
