So I looked but I couldn't find much on the subject. I'm looking for info on Trad / Big Wall DVD's. I already own Wall Rats and Dosage IV. I want suggestions on DVD's with mostly trad. I'm not into 5.Outrageous sport and bouldering, or fast forwarding. So what's out there?

How about "Blood sweat and bagels"? A Slackjaw film about a couple of Brits.... Neil Bentley and Rich Heap.... and their attempt to free climb the Salathe Wall. Some great footage of El Cap climbing and I really liked the modest, documentary-ish style that was quite funny in places. Also, though I haven't seen it yet I hear "E11" is really good too. The trailer had some pretty spectacular video of Scottish climber Dave MaCleod taking 60' whippers (onto small gear) on his new super-hard route "Rhapsody"! Gearexpress.com has both these.

I was going to say Front Range Freaks, but there'a fair amount of chapter skipping to be done. (Although the Derek Hersey piece is awesome) Hard Grit is a must have. Another vote for E11 too, but in the same manner as Hard Grit - although it is 'technically trad', there's a conspicuous shortage of actual gear placements...

Check out "No Permanent Address," it features Aaron Black and Sean Easton doing the first ascent of a 23 pitch face in British Columbia. There is also a bunch of footage from El Potrero Chico, Indian Creek, and Yosemite. Good stuff.

was about to recommend set in stone but i see someone else has beaten me to it. its about the birckett family, bill and dave (mainly dave though) and the really hard stuff they have done in the lake district. it is a fantastic place to climb and generally have a good time in if you ever manage to get to this side of the pond. other than that there is the original trad dvd of hard grit.

Committed, the new grit movie looks pretty cool. if you can get your hands on a copy of the free dvd of Parallelojams, its excellent. otherwise, it can be found on Return 2 Sender, which is pretty good, but theres chapter skipping. First Ascent is cool- lots of time in the Black, Squamish, etc, etc. Again, though, some sport and bouldering.

Yeah Return 2 Sender had some nice Trad climbing...but the guy that does that movie is so fucking hidiously annoying that I struggle to watch it. E11 was good, but too short and maybe a wee too much talking...and I wouldn't really classify it as Trad, because you see like one gear placement shot ;)

Another movie I've enjoyed is Master's of Stone II. It's a full mix of styles, but its not all about bouldering like a lot of recent climbing movies are.

Just watched First Ascent last night. Fucking awesome trad stuff in it. Not much big wall but some sick action either way.
