nice to know that smaller tricams are on their way. But I found these to go smaller than 0.5. SMC Camlocks. http://www.smcgear.net/products.asp?cat=12&pid=84

or try this for more info on SMC Camlocks http://www.needlesports.com/...museum/nutsstory.htm Apparently, they have been around for a while (70s). Lost their appeal, but I have heard some folks vouch for them in these very forums. Seems that CMI made similar shaped and concept camming nuts, which someone in these forums, referred to as 'Swivel of Death'. But some old timers who have truly used them in field extensively could shed more light on these camlocks. I got mine with some other gear and found them capable of going below .5's limits, but yet to test them in lead.

I have some buddies that have been climbing since the 70's who have used Camlocks lots in the the past (ie. from the point at which they came out). Their opinion: The cable was to stiff, sling them on cord... oh, and they keep saying that they always needed to set them with a hammer. Go with the Tricams. As for the release date, I've only heard sometime next spring/summer.

spring- this generally means March/April, but it may be as late as May/June, depending. I think Camp is pretty good about getting product out, so I'd venture to guess that March/April is more likely.

His contact info is on the top of the pdf.

The answer that just came back is: "The official release date for these units is March 2008."
