Has anyone found an available pinky rest that is compatible with the DMM fly? I love my ice tools, but I need to modify them if I want to climb leashless (trying to get with the times =p).

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I rather doubt that Brent would have the time (he's always really busy!) but the idea is pretty simple and you could find someone that you know to make them up for you.

I have also heard of people of people changing things like the BD viper fangs to fit their tools. I know that this was in a thread here sometime in the past couple of years, but I'm far too lazy to dig it up right now.

I have seen both the CM/Petzl and the BD Fangs/Horns/whatever you want to call them affixed to the Fly's. It works great... so does the $0.20 piece of metal that I used on my Fly's before all that stuff became mainstream.

Does one have to craft the metal piece (like the one in the photo of Brent's tools) or are they available in some dept of a hardware store or something? thanks for the replies!

You would have to craft/mill/cut/file or otherwize create them. Tip: If you do use the metal pinky rests, plasti-dip (that rubbery/plastic like stuff you see on pliers) the thing. Your fingers will thank you for the extra warmth/less heat loss.

I had DMM flys, I put the petzl quark pinky rest on(the flys are slightly thicker, so you need a little file to enlarge the inside. you can only get 1 or the 2 bolts in but you should be able to figure it out.) and i also put on the grivel trigger rest (fits perfectly). Then get some grippy tape over the gaps and bare metal. Sure you can just buy a 20 cent piece of metal and get it on there but when your pumpin out way above your last screw it nice to know you have the right tool for the job. And I even have a picture

Hey now give him a break. Fishing, Fabricating and Mild Fornication tends to consume a lot of time.

Not to mention tracking down one's shell.

How is soloing going to help him muster the will to drag his hairy ass out climbing?

He has plenty of people willing to climb with him.

Not really, I think it keeps him warm in the winter. It also adds a bit of teddy bear cuteness to him.

Um, Brent.....

You need to actually finish some tools so they can be tested.

Even if you do finish a set you'll likely be to "busy" to get out climbing with your new testers. Unless of course your new tester is Laura, but then you will be kayaking or fucking. Neither of those activities is very good for testing tools.

Hey now that I have my petzl quark griprests, I have filed them down and attached them to my flys, but I can't seem to find a way to attach them via the one bolt that actually fits through the piece into my adze.

Someone posted a pic earlier in the thread, but it is gone now (and I PMed him)- does anyone else have something bolted onto their flys that they could give me a tip to get them on?

Thanks!
