as to the original question: not many women in climbing, relatively speaking, so competition is fierce. if you appear too eager you will be ignored/shunned/get into stupid male-like competitions with your once 'friends' in trying to impress said women with your climbing prowess. best to forget about it, then women may surface to give you the time of day.
