Anybody back from an early season Aconcagua expedition (specifically Polish Glaciar route)? I am thinking of heading down in the next few weeks- was wondering what snowpack was like- I stayed in snow caves at Camp 1, 1.5, and 2 in '98, and keeping a comfy 3 season tent at base camp, but it's not really possible in a dry year- just wondering what tent to bring!

Returned on dec 2nd., normal route. Until then only one frenchman tried de polacos side. No luck for him. (only made it up to Colera). I stayed 3 days at Berlin waiting. Lots of wind and very little snow (hurry or you’ll get no water). Talked to a friend who was there a couple of weeks ago. Still to much wind. For what I saw, forget about caves, and be careful of crevasses if you go by the glacier.
