Hi There,
Im going to be there on these dates with my girlfriend Heather. I'm an intermediate climber with very little leading experience, she only been a couple of times. I do have a harness and enjoy top roping, we can get her one if anyone wants to meet us out there. We will be staying at Indian Cove campground. If anyone want to help us out and wants us to join them, we would love to meet new people.
Thanks, Gary

SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO TO THE CLIMBING WALL AT BOOMERS IN PALM SPRINGS.

MUCH BETTER THAN JT CHOSS, AND YOU GF CAN CLIMB.

JT your pathetic!!

Gevens: You should probably just try to hook up with some people who are willing to let total NOOBS hang with them and climb on thier top rope. I'll be there a few days earlier but will be leaving on the 23rd, otherwise I'd invite you to join us.

good luck!

If you want to climb, I'd look into a guide service, there aren't many top rope setups in j tree that don't involve gear, and slinging trees is illegal in the park.

My wife and I got a guide our first time j-tree and loved it. We only had one day and my wife has climbing experience but not any trad experience. We told the guide to show us around and give us ideas to go on our own when we go back. We climbed a ton in one day. I would have taken us that long to figure out where to go.

I might be out there that weekend. I prefer the climbing around Hidden Valley however and the camping scene there. Too many noobs at Indian Cove. Doh.

I don't mind climbing with newbies though.

Someone should probably bolt anchors at the top of Room to Shroom then. Right now there's just a bunch of webbing around a tree. It's pretty rare to see a tree at the top of a climb in Josh though.

Yeah, it's not a widely known fact, and it rarely comes up because of the scarcity of trees near the top of climbs in Josh, but I took and AMGA course in josh and learned that it was against the rules. I had climbed there for years before that though and never known.

The reason behind it is that the trees are fragile because they are in a desert environment and they probably can't take the added stress of being yanked on.

great! im glad to find someone who is willing to help out. I want to get better, and climbing with more experienced climbers is the way to do it. If you want to send me an email it's gevans808@gmail.com. We can figure out if we'll all be there at the same time and where to meet, etc. Thanks,
Gary
