Thanks, I went to that and it gives back the original feel and look of RC.com while getting rid of these new scripts that are taking so long to load.

If you are able, nuke: reach.rockclimbing.com/* quantcast.com/* edge.quantcast.com/* ad.doubleclick.net/* That gets rid of most of the ads and cuts down 10 seconds of loading time. It also lets DDT earn money without you being annoyed.

Valarc wrote: One of the main problems seems to be a javascript that is slowing down browsers and generally causing havoc. If you've got adblock or adblock plus, add the following to your filters: http://www.rockclimbing.com/js/shadedborder.js Killing this was a huge boost for my speed. Firefox no longer freezes while pages load.

I was having serious delay problems as well. So I installed adblocker for firefox and added all of the links mentioned above, which helped a little. Then I installed Jay's Tweaks and now life is like a box of chocolates. Thanks Jay. And thanks to all for suggestions... I was about to leave Hope DDT is still getting his dime for my site views... -Boy

It has to be the Ads, since I have the Ads turned "off" in my profile, I have NOT had this problem in any way, and I have noticed no difference at all in speed. Hope this helps to identify the issue.

Has it gotten better for you all? Maybe its not only the site/server/ads, but also a combination of the users OS and browser? At the moment im sitting at my XP box, with opera 9.5 beta, and it is rather fast. not lightspeed fast, but quite ok, and i dont have any ads blocked. However on opera on my mac its very slow. and normally opera is by far the fastest browser arround. It seems like the issue where the site crashed opera is solved, but it still is slow. Firefox and safari on the mac do work, but both browsers dont like it if you continually use them. In my experience those two get abbysimal slow, no matter what site, if you havent deleted the cache for more than three hours of surfing. The firefox3 is a bit better than firefox2, but safari3 is as shitty as safari2. Havent been here much on linux, but opera 9.5 seems to work quite ok, as does konqueror. So what could it be? qwert
