Hi All...

I know this is a long-shot, but....I am heading to the NC area in early August and am hoping to take the Fox Mountain Guides Rock Climbing 201 course. Problem is, the cost is higher for fewer people. If there is anyone in the area who would be interested in taking the class, let me know. It's $500 if I go alone, but $350 each if I have a cohort to join me.

I had the same problem earlier this year, but dont worry the closer it got to the date the more people signed up, ended up with 2 guides and 7 students.

So, the class was worth it, then? Were you completely worn out by the second day?

I actually went and took the 101 class last weekend. These guys are great. I really learned a lot. I am thinking about going back for the 201 class in the fall some time. I wouldn't worry about the class not having enough people though. You also shouldn't get worn out. All of the climbing is slab and not too strenuous.

Yeah, I have not been able to find a good reason not to go...only the cost. Think I'll just go for it. Money well-spend, right?

Yes, it certainly was. There was 1 person signed up when we did and 1 more eventually signed up. The morning we arrived, 1 other person was there and 1 had called to say he couldn't make it. So, it was the three of us and the guide and we were still only charged the price for 4 people or more of $230. Well worth it for 2 days of really personal attention.

Well, I made the decision and have reserved a spot in the 201 class for the first week of August. I am really excited. Now I just have to get myself spun up on all the basics. I am still learning, but the 101 class seemed to be at a lower level than I needed.

Thanks for the input and helping me to make an informed decision!

From what I can tell this seems like a good class to take to learn about gear placements and anchor building. I am an experienced sport climber but have minimal trad experience and rarely have to build an anchor. Is this the class for me??

David what exact dates are you signed up for? If I can make it, and this class will teach me what I'm looking for I'll go with ya.

Hi...actually, it is me (leah) who is going to the class. I am attending Aug 5 and 6. Send me an email if you are interested.

Oh, and the Fox Mt. Guide website details more about what is taught in the class.
