I've been rockin the Evolv Pontas for almost a year now and i like them a lot. The only problem is i've worn through the sole and the rand on both shoes. I really like the Jets from what i've seen and was wondering wether it would be worth my time to buy them, or just resole the evolvs. thanks.

I've had My Jets for a few months now and I've fallen in love. Prior to getting the Jets I was using the Dragon Lace-up and they are still my fav. when the going gets really tough, but I love the ease of the Jets and the awesome sensitivity they have. I'll be getting another pair when these are done.

The jet 7's are way more aggressive than your pontas. if you are climbing the steep stuff or tiny pockets and don't plan on smearing at all, then yeah, the jet 7's would be a good choice. but with that said, the pontas are great shoes for the steeps and pockets and micro edges, just a little more versatile, you know, like smearing? i'd get the pontas resoled.

i live in chattanooga and my main place of business is LRC. so there is a decent amount of smearing, but a lot more edging.

lol...I've been curious to resole my pontas, but the smell eminating from them (after only 5 months using them), is soo bad, I can't bring myself to inflicting the world with said smell when taking themon the bus to whoever would resole them...

Love evolv shoes
Hate the smell!

i'd go jet 7 just to in the hope then keep the stink out a little longer!

every climber should have a couple pairs of shoes... resole the pontas and buy the jets

I have 3 pairs of shoes in my locker at the gym. Solutions for steep stuff, mocks for flatwall, and some oldies for warming up in.

well seeing as you've said you've already worn through the rand it's probably better if you part paths with the ol' pontas and start fresh.

I actually bought a new pair of shoes because I had to send in all of my other pairs for resole. I didn't want to spend two weeks without climbing.

That said, bleach solution, febreze, resole.

Dr. Scholl's shoe shot. Use it once every 2 months or so and you wont have scent problems from your Pontas anymore. Not to mention my shoes always feel tighter for a week or so after using said foot powder.

its not too big a deal outside...except you know where I'm stuck..T.O. indoor for now : (...without the open breeze...some days I'm fighting a gag reflex taking a break between climbs!

Hope your travels go well! did you get that 70m? What did you end up with?

i've got a pair of jet7's. they're super agressive, which works great for steep stuff. they edge, toe hook, heel hook, and bicycle superbly. they're amazingly sticky.

the closer you come to vertical the less comfortable they get. they perform decently in small cracks, but mine are a tad too small so they crush my big toe in large cracks. the down-turned toe pretty much eliminates effective smearing.

as for resoling your pontas, if you've worn down to the rand, it's typically not worth resoling.

that leaves you with the following decision: do you buy the jet7's or some other shoe?

if you plan on climbing the steep, rocking the roofs, and crushing the overhanging, get them. you will not be disappointed. however, if you want to climb anything else, keep looking.

If you can, try them on.

I found them to be like most shoes, they fit well for some people and not for others. The fit just didn't end up being right for my foot shape (big toes?) so after some denial I sold them to my friend.

He loves them, super aggressive, super precise, definitely worth checking out
