We accidentally started climbing a route that turned out to be ~30 meters to the right of Olive Oil, thinking it was in fact Olive Oil, as the area matched the guidebook descriptions. About 30 feet off the ground with poor pro, there was a big bulge / small roof with maybe a 5.10 move. Above that, there was ledge with a large boulder slung with nylon and a rap ring.
At this point, we heard climbers on Olive Oil (reading the guidebook description for the second pitch verbatim) up and to our left, and realized we were off-route by maybe 30m. We decided to keep climbing and try to get back on Olive Oil. Another 20-30ft of 5.9ish climbing lead to a shrub slung with cord and a carabiner. 80ft or so above the shrub, we reached a huge ledge and the beginning of the second pitch of Olive Oil.
It seemed we were climbing some descent route. Does anyone know if this is an actual route (if we had kept going straight up)?
