I'm new to climbing, and 38 years old, but looking for a climbing partner(s). Most of my friends and family don't get it, but I'm hooked. Yes, I'm a noob, but I've hit the Red and the New, and have taken some classes. Not with a great deal of success mind you, but I love it. Guides, however, are expensive, and I'd like to find a climbing partner that can teach me the ropes. (Groan. That was unintentional). Seriously, though I can climb/follow about 5.8, but I am willing push further. I just returned from Bridge Day in the New, and I'm already jonesing to get back to the Junkyard Wall. I'm learning all that I can, and would like to find someone that has some time to hit local stuff (Yeah, right, it's Ohio), and hit the Red or the New on occasion. Age, race, gender, etc., are unimportant to me. Just so long as you know enough about climbing that I can learn more, and know enough about your own limitations that neither of us decks. Jamie

Check out http://www.redriverclimbing.com. It is specific to RRG and has a ton of Cincinnati and some Dayton climbers. They can give good advice (though I'm going to predict the advice will be go to a gym and meet people, which is probably your best bet).

Good to know. I'll check out the site. I do go to the local indoor gym, but not often enough. If your ever in Dayton, is pretty nice. It's in an old church in the Oregon District. They're online at http://www.urbankrag.com/ Thanks, Tru.

In reply to: and would like to find someone that has some time to hit local stuff (Yeah, right, it's Ohio), SEO has more than you know!!! If you are ever in the Athens area give a shout out and you will be rewarded with some of the best lines in the state.

To all who have responded here, and by PM, thank you, and my apologies for being incommunicado. I've been distracted by an illness in the family, and, well, enough about that. Still new to climbing, still looking for someone with whom to get out on the rock. I'm now belay certified for Urban Krag in Dayton, if you want to hook up there before deciding on whether to go into the woods with me. [ETA: Just thought I'd say that's supposed to be a haha, j/k smilie, not a creepy looking smilie.] I've got enough gear for setting up a top rope, doing some sport (I've never been on the sharp end of the rope, although I have belayed a guide or two setting up a TR), and I'm working on the trad gear. PM's sent.
