La Sportiva Miura VS Stretch?

Forgive me if this topic has been covered, but I didn't see it in the archives?

I tried on a pair of VS's this morning before climbing and discovered that they seem to run a bit larger than their counterpart...the Miura. I have owned two pairs of Miuras (both 42.5) and they fit like a second skin.

I tried on the 42.5's (in the VS) and they were huge...then I tried on the 41.5 and I could see these working..but my big toe on the left shoe was in some discomfort. They didn't have a 42 in stock...but would love to get a pair of these for next weekend (boulder with them this week to break them in).

My question is....how much do these shoes stretch? Can I expext a 1/2 a shoe size or slightly less...or very little at all. My thoughts are that they should stretch out a bit as they are leather uppers.

Anyone out there have experience with these shoes?
Thanks! Wink

Mine havn't stretched a ton. They def. broke in, but as far as stretching, I wouldn't plan on much.

Yea, I believe that Miura's are known for not stretching much at all.

OK...thanks guys!
I think I may opt up for the 42's. At my age...the days of stuffing feet into shoes two sizes too small are over!! Wink
The 42's ahould be small enough!!!
Thanks for the info

Haha. Unfortunately I'm at the age of stuffing my feet into shoes at least a few sizes too small.

I got my VS's in the same size (41) as my lace-ups but the lace-ups were always a little too narrow for me. The VS version fits my foot much better. I tried on a 40.5 in the VS and I had some pretty bad discomfort over my big toe (I'm not sure now if it was both feet or not) when standing on a climbing hold so I went with the 41 which was a little uncomfortable over my left big toe. They have loosened up at this point that they fit very comfortably. I think the 40.5 would have worked out okay because the 41 seems almost on the verge of being too big. I don't think the overall size increases, but the leather and liner over the top conforms to the foot.

Well...I ended up going with the 41.5's! AFter bouldering around in them on the wall, I could see how they will begin to bag out a bit at the toes. I think once I sweat in them and get a couple of hours of hard climbing in them, they will relax the way that I want them to. Time will tell I suppose...but right now they seem to be working out...

I hope they stretch for you -- mine never did for me, not even 1/4 size!

That is so funny...my friend has a pair of these and he said they stretched at least a 1/2 a size. Shoes are so messed up!!!

I hae to believe that it depends on how small you get them...the tighter the more they will have to give, but if they don't stretch, I will take them back and exchange them for a larger size.

FWIW...my 41.5's are definitely stretching out...or at least relaxing. They are bagging out a bit in the toes and after two bouldering sessions (about and hour each), the fit is noticably different. Now they don't stretch like the mythos or anything like that, but I would say at least a 1/4 size at this point.

These are really nice shoes...their edging capabilities are spot on and despite how small they are...they are pretty comfortable. Not an all day shoe, but after my second day pushing them a little...I was not in total agony!!! Wink

Very happy with these shoes.
