I think that if you know about something and nobody else does you have the option to let people know about it. there are a few spots I climb that not many people know about. I keep it quiet mostly because everywhere I've gone climbing where multiple others do aswell, I always find piles of garbage, I take care of my crag but some people don't, so for the land's sake. I keep them secret

I bet if you ask around and look at topos and search through Google earth and Bushwack for months on end. You may find something most likely not. Some old schoolers know of spots long and forgotten. It takes some research and time but I have found it all to pay off in the end. Good luck and happy hunting. Some things you find will be worth nothing some things will be worth the hour long plunge through the woods. Bring a GPS...

No, I will not share my secret spots with you. On the other hand, I won't post photos and brag about it either. Secret means secret.

So when I've spent days/weeks cleaning prepping and working routes, I should tell the entire world of their existence before I send them because keeping secrets is gay? Fuck you, with a rotary hammer. That is all. I have to go with exactly what angry said. After i put in all the hard work making trails and bolting, and all the other backbreaking work you have to do to make a good crag, I don't want a bunch of arrogant bastards out climbing there that are going to throw their trash around, have no care for the amount of work people put into making the area how it is. Go make a trail into an area and bolt it, and/or clean it, then rethink the question you are asking.

If I'm making a trail or bolting, yes, I definitely plan to have people climbing there. The thing is, I'm not letting the cat out of the bag a minute before I'm ready.

I bet you're also not going to broadcast it on the internet. The best places are still the ones that go around by word of mouth.

Wanna climb it? Wanna know where it is? Get good enough to stand a chance and in your travels, you will run across those who can point you to it. The beauty of this system is that it forces you to learn and to engage in human interaction. I personally have emailed users who have had photo's of routes I wanted to climb. I've also emailed users and asked them to take location of certain photos down. That's how it is. I may be the be biggest dipshit on here but if you want me to sign your climbing mag this month, I will.

Well it looks like your climbing the tip of my penis. But anyways, this isnt human interaction, just like going to the gym isnt really climbing. Ill admit to having built some "secret" backyard skateboarding bowls, and Im pretty sure I wouldnt want you there, so I kinda get it.....but if you dont want anyone to know then dont advertise. Thats all.

Chinchen wrote: Super gay. You really use this term? Even if folks haven't spent time bolting - they've still spent time tramping woods, trying things, discovering they're bogus, moving on to the next boulder....then, they share with friends. After a while, the circle spreads. Some of the stuff in our area we don't post details out there for everyone. Much of it is due to access issues, requests of the land-owners, etc. But, we are willing to share with someone who comes along & asks, or shows up at an area & wants info.
