I hate to break it to you, but you are wearing shorts in your profile picture.

touche, I had a pair of pants over them because I usually wear shorts under my pants in case of swimming or whatever and that day when we went climbing it was at noon and like 102f and while on the route that I'm belaying that guy on I almost passed out because of the heat so I went to shorts while I was cooling down.

I usually just wear whatever I happen to have on. Luckily I don't wear a suit and tie to work.

I think jeans (a few sizes too big) work well, although not nearly as "cool" as "special climbing pants".

I generally wear shorts, usually something heavier than normal athletic shorts. However, I have recently been climbing in athletic shorts since the climbing club at my school happens to climb right after cross country practice and I don't bother/ have time to change. I also climbed in jeans for the first time this weekend. I did not notice any bad restrictiveness, so I vote jeans if its cold, shorts if its not :P

On a side note, last week I wore compression shorts to XC and then rock climbing, I know its kinda off topic but has anyone else tried this?

I wear compression shorts when I climb all the time, never had a problem with them. I actually prefer having them on because you have less... Loose ends haha

I like how the marketers have cleverly renamed spandex as 'compression'. Laugh

Why would you crush your buddies like that?
I was never one to join the underarmour crew. Stuff that tight and me don't mix.

More like bike shorts without the chamois.

Yeah I would say they're like bike shorts but shorter and you wear them under athletic shorts or whatever. They aren't unbearably tight jus tight enough to keep you in one place and from hanging out the bottom of your shorts.

yep. I spent a whole season of xc doing that. I really liked it so I started doing it all the time. Then I found the freedom and joy of swim trunks.

I guess I just go through phases. First I want the boys close, and then I don't care where they go as long as they come home for supper. Wink

Simple anwser is... wear what is comfotable.

Wear somthing for the first climb, if it works great. If not than adjust the pants to getthe job done.

I wear shorts in the gym. I blessed with plenty of sweat glands so I perfer to stay cool and not to greese up the route more than I have to.
If you feel your legs are getting bashed up wear long pants.

OUt side, I wear rolled up carhartts.

I wear pants & shorts, though every brand is different. I Start by putting them on & if I can lift my foot up onto a counter with out having much restriction from the clothing then go with that. after a while I have found which shorts & pants work best for me.

Being Fall now I wear jeans rolled up to just below the knee.
