'Twas just looking at Google Earth for the locations of various universities that I might be interested in spending the next few years of my life in, and realised it would be great to have an "RC.com" Google Earth community with its own location icons linking back to the Routes database. Any thoughts?

Yeah, this would be cool. While any members can post new placemarks (routes) to the Google Earth Community, the problem is getting the existing routes database of almost 100,000 routes up there. This is not something we can just decide to do... it requires an agreement between RC.com and Google whereby we can feed our data to their database.

Not to mention we do not have the GPS coordinates for 99% of the routes in the database. The only way to accurately map every route is to obtain the GPS coordinates for every route in existence, a virtually impossible challenge. One could map the general location of large crags but to map all the walls or all the routes is impossible.

Will it not maybe be more practicle to to have a general grag location point on google earth with a link to a route guide for that area?
