Stone's fine, although it was closed last weekend during the snow. Haven't been to Linville or Cashiers since the recent snow hit.

Stone and Rumbling Bald will be gauranteed good if the sun is out and in the 40's. That will be really warm. Laurel knob should also be warm enough if it is in the 40's and sunny. If you can get there fine and if there isn't too much snow still on top.

Was ice climbing opposite side the valley from the bald today. In the sun it was in the 50 at three in the afternoon. The bald looked very warm sunny and climable from where i was.

There is no climbing in Cashiers. Move along.... Seriously, though... LK Big Green Woody Wall Whitesides All the stuff on WS that is closed. Other huge granite slabs, domes, and cliffs that are either Gray or Black Market concerning access...and these are some of the area big boys...cept for LK, of course. Drive down Whitesides Cove Road often? Keep your eyes open.

Anybody know how conditions are around the Glass? Was thinking of working on my aid technique. Anyone want to do a day trip this weekend? T

I am not sure about conditions, but I will try to find out from some fellow NC climbers. The weather actually looks reasonable up there this weekend. If so, I will likely be up there doing some climbs and maybe aiding a little.

I'll be at the Bald tmrw all day solo, so if anyone is interested in a partner i should be at the parking lot around 9ish in the morning. Probably heading over to cereal buttress to work out a solo aid system and then to flakeview to set up some TR solo lines. Names T, i'm lugging a huge rack and 2 ropes in so i should be hard to miss. Or text me at 617 935 6392 cheers

I've done the same on SW. Perfect crack for learning to use cam hooks. Even better free climb though! I don't know about you, but I was cold this weekend. We were climbing on the Flakeview area, and someone had a solo TR setup on Drivin and Cryin.

Thats pretty strange, i cant say i've ever seen someone solo TR at the bald, especially not on a weekend. I was up there Sunday and thought it was super nice. Cereal is a bit more protected from the wind coming down the gorge though.

As of the CCC meeting last weekend the gate for the FS road is closed. So the hike is a wee bit longer. Weather looks amazing this weekend. Post up if the rock is dry. Im sure you will be able to find something. Or just go to the bald, its guaranteed dry!

I've never been there before, I'm assuming you mean the non paved road after the Fish Hatchery is gated? Now I'm nervous. I'd hate to drive all that way just to find the rock wet.

Its now a hour hike into the S. Face of Looking Glass. I wouldn't try going any further, as it will increase the hike by a lot. The rock is going to be seeping most of the morning. There is still a lot of snow up there and they just got 9inches Monday. Hopefully most of the snow will be gone by this weekend, but no guarantees. I am sure a few lines will still be good whether its seeping or not, Second Coming, Dinkus Dog, and Rat's Ass stay dry.

We chickened out. We're going to Stone instead. It's just not worth the drive all the way to Looking Glass and not be able to climb what we want because of weather. I'm losing my Stone Mtn. virginity so hopefully my pants won't be too tainted when we come back. We don't have a guidebook so route finding might be exciting, but you only live once. Any of you guys going to be out there this weekend?
