It depends on your location to some extent, but what's the point of asking? It's not like you have a choice of 20 gyms arounds you and you are going to shop around for the best deal... Good luck, enjoy!

That seems about ballpark. Do they offer a longer period pass -- 3 month/6month/annual that will reduce the price?

that was about the student price back in my college days. I haven't had a gym pass since then, so I have no idea what the gyms cost now. climb at the gym till you meet some climbers and then hit the local crags with them, thats a better way to learn that pulling plastic.

My gym is $85 if you wanna pay monthly. Paying a year in advance is $485 which equates to $40.42 monthly.

You're going to have to decide if it's worth it to you to pay that much. How close is the gym, how interesting is the gym, how often are you going to go? Compare it to the price of day passes that you'll still pay if you didn't have a membership, that will probably make you feel better.

Like so many other things, it can be expensive if you don't use your membership much, or very reasonable if you go a lot. Just use it as a reason to climb any time you are deciding what to do with a couple hours. I used to feel like I was spending a lot on climbing until I stopped an compared it with the $/hour cost of the other things I do.

My gym is $50 for a month, $40/mo for a 12 month installment plan, or $35/mo for 12 months pre paid.

Our fees are $84/semester for the entire facility, rock wall included (duh!). Day passes are $7 for non-members, harness, shoes, 'biner/belay device (where applicable) included if needed. That's a pretty sweet deal for non-members.

I recently bought a membership to my gym that has a monthly rate of $65 as well, but I bought a year long membership that sent me back $715 that waived me an "initiation fee" as well as one months membership cost. Though I've done the math and as long as I go at least once a week (been going about 4 days a week) it end up being worth it.

I pay $30/mo, annual. There's almost no way I'd have gotten into this at all if the prices were $65+ like people are describing up there.

My gym is 60/month for a one month membership, cheaper if you sign on for a longer term. I volunteer to belay for bday parties and open climbs once a week so I climb free.

I believe its $5 a day for non-members for the whole facility and another $5 for anyone to rent shoes+chalk bag for 24hrs. so not horrible if you're just getting into climbing and want to see how much you like it. Where do go to school?

I'm pretty sure that price would be pretty low in a bigger city too. The gym I go to has some other fitness stuff too, like a treadmill, bike, weights, etc. so it's a pretty good value. If you are just getting into climbing, definitely pay monthly for a bit. You don't want to pay for a yearly pass and stop climbing after 2 months... though, that would be excellent economic stimulus for the climbing gym! Prices for the gym I go to: $65/month 3 months: $170 ($60/month) 6 months: $285 ($50/month) 1 year: $435 ($40/month)
