Well, darn it! You're right...you used a different name over there...thought that pic looked familiar. BTW for getting 3rd place in the bouldering category, dsafanda gets his pic published in VBouldering mag! way to go...gotta love bouldering! P.S. There were other winners thatlooked familiar but I din't recognize the names right away...didn't feel like searching to find out. [ This Message was edited by: bobtheboulderer on 2002-12-21 08:56 ]

Well I'll be.... Talk about the Better Way to win a photo contest! In case you're wondering, I took the photo using Richard's camera. Ask him what happened next.....

Hi Pete, You did a great job taking the picture. This was the start of P2 on Lunar Eclipse and is rated at A1 ... Pete took the picture with a Pentax 6X7 medium format camera with a 45mm lens --- big and heavy camera --- everything is manual. Film was B&W Tri-X. I can't believe we lugged the thing up the side of the wall. Most of the other pitches are rated A3 or A4!!! When the picture was taken I think I was on my 3rd hook move in a row !!! After 2 more hook moves I was able to place a #5 brass micro nut, my first real piece of protection, unless you think a FISH Captain Hook just hanging on a hook placement as protection. I didn't have any pins with me and I was in "C" clean mode and should have been in "A" mode. Pete had just got comfortable on his portaledge when I yelled down that I didn't see any place to put in any gear "C" mode. Instead of calling for pins, I bailed and Pete took over. In his great Canadian humor, he let me know what I should have done. He pounded a few PINS, did a few more Hook moves, placed some cams and then did some free moves before reaching the belay. I got to clean the pitch to see what he did also. THANKS PETE !!! [ This Message was edited by: spike on 2002-12-24 07:12 ]
