I'm planning to climb the North Ridge (5.8) on the Grand Teton second week of June. The climbing ranger said it would be covered in snow and ice so some dry tooling would be involved. Can anyone please recommend a good place to practice dry tooling in the Golden Horseshoe/Southern Ontario area? Thank you! Dan

Dan I already responded to your other thread (any place around here that you can drytool at is out of season, any other place is a rock area and should not be drytooled at). It might be best to set up a practice day at the start of your trip if you think this might be an issue for you.

Only if you don't mind getting pulled off them by the police.

I guess I don't know how serious you were about the road cuts, but I've seen some attractive ones in my day and I know that the OPP doesn't want you on them. A good option in some area of North America are quarries. The problem is finding one that's not in operation now and isn't cut into slabby steps. I've climbed at a couple good ones out in Minnesota, one is mostly rock climbing, the other I've only done mixed climbing. Another possibility are abandoned stone train bridges, I've heard of a couple that people will climb at. But keep in mind that this is usually private property and you shouldn't be flaunting about climbing at them.
