Lazlo wrote: Lost Arrow Piton Bottle Opener Hmmm.. Looks similar, but not quite right. What I think would be interesting would be your take on an Angle, and it's functional use as a bottle opener. Though, I would be interested to see how close to a usable piece of hardware you could get with it, and have it still be functional as a bottle opener. For, as a climber, I am proud to have climbing hardware that does double duty as both pro and bottle openers; i.e. biners, cams, hexes, nut tools, and a few pitons. Plus there's the long-dong pin that I have that has pulled double-duty as a bread knife ala peanut-butter spreader.

I'm hoping it's at least a ten, as I love getting the onsight when all of the hard work is done... God I hate smileys. I will post pics tomorrow because ( and listen up, all of you) that is how it should be done in here. I'll get a camera eventually.

I will post pics tomorrow because ( and listen up, all of you) that is how it should be done in here. looking forward to the pics. of course I'll have to log in at home to see them. But will give ma an excuss to see the rope harness also. When we first climbed, we used a webing diaper and webbing waist band. Of course not for leading. got a real harness before doing that. Thats what I did the first time I went rapelling. Then I got a Whillan's, but the (*ahem) "boys" insisted that I get something to keep them together. I climbed in a swami belt exclusively from 1979-1985, the pinnacle of my climbing career to date. El Cap, Half Dome, Grand Teton, Eldo, RMNP, Gunks, NH, well you get the picture. The biggest whipper I ever took on a swami was 25'. Honestly, it was no big deal.

This stock photo... shows the blade being more rectangular and wedged until the caribiner hole. As is backed up by this LA by CAMP. Yours, while beyond anything I could make, is missing that shape, and it's enough that I notice and think it's strange. But the examples I provided also look like they are cast instead of forged. Oh, by the way, your LA as seen above in the quoted text is on the second page of Google image results for "lost arrow piton."

Mini TR from the second longest day of the year: yesterday. We went to Rand Mtn, only about a half hour drive away and yet I had never been. A humid half hour hike led to the wall where my partner Joshua and I were soon joined by Jon and Jim. We warmed up on a couple of 5.7s, super fun. I was heinously stoned for the second one... Woo! Next we all took burns on Joshuas newly bolted proj, but it was wet on a few key holds and even when dry will probably go at mid to hard 11. Ended the night on a long, sustained, and very heady lead of a 5.9. Tricky start, face climbing to a balancy mantle. The upper face and corner was immaculate. Two bolts in 65' of climbing. Blow the first one and you deck. Almost all of the trad gear was suspect horizontal cams, but at least after clipping the first bolt you wouldn't crater. Bugs+++ Home at 9:30 That is all.
