What's up. Debut post here. I will be in Moab Thu to Monday. Anyone willing to to hook a brotha up with a swing on the Corona Arch? Much appreciate it if you can hook me up or know someone that can. I'll check back here or you can get with me at wvuboy444@yahoo.com . I don't have much climbing experience. Just want to do the jump. Thanks very much

It's circus stunts like this, especially with the recent death, that will do more for BLM land closures in the Moab area than anything else.

I believe commercial endeavors of that sort, in that area, have been outlawed by those who make the rules.

Well, I can't put in a new transmission, but I know how to find a mechanic. Same with a brain surgeon. I'm not going to look at the set up and judge it any more than I can look at a brain and judge how the surgery went. Thanks for your thoughts, though.

All the people I know in Moab that could rig it are out of town right now, otherwise I would give you a reference. Try stopping by the local climbing shops and asking around. Also, Facebook has a number of Utah and Moab area climbing and slacklining groups. You would probably have better luck on there.

Finding someone to set up this swing is NOTHING like finding a mechanic. A mechanic might (will?) rip you off, or not fix your car correctly, but if someone rigs the arch incorrectly YOU WILL DIE. The brain surgeon analogy is slightly more similar, in that if he screws up you die. BUT a brain surgeon has documented qualifications, years of training and experience, insurance, and a hospital that backs him. Good luck finding those qualities in anyone who's going to set up the Corona Arch for some dude just because he asked on rc.com. Someone who does have the qualifications, experience, etc. (ie. a commercial entity) won't set it up for you because it's banned, and they'd be risking their credibility.

Btw, do you find a mechanic by asking someone on an internet forum to do it for you?

As far as I know, it's not banned (yet*), but no commercial operation will do it because of liability concerns. *: BLM is keeping a very close eye on land use issues around Moab. There's already a problem with highlines left up for extended periods.
