I have to agree with echastang. Planet Rock is awesome. There's a reason JCCA used it for nationals this year--it's got everything anyone could ask for, except for crack, but I don't mind that. I haven't climbed there recently, so I don't know how routes have been lately, but last time I was there, the routes were awesome. And $13/day isn't too bad, considering that if I didn't work at the gym where I climb now, I would pay $18/day.

Another bad ass gym in my area is called Exposure. They just expanded thier space and added like 2 crack climbs. Thier lead routes as well get completly parallel with the floor. They have killer overhangs and an awsome bouldering wall.

I climb at Vertical Endeavors in St. Paul, MN. There is a lot of square footage(not sure exact amount) including two bouldering caves, a bunch of topropes, and a really high area for sport leads. Some of the people there annoy me a little, but for the most part the other climbers are very friendly. The employees are also both friendly and helpful.

I am really beginning to like my gym... PRG. I really like Stoneworks, tooThe Owner is always there, climbing...knows your name. I really like that there is no rating there...You just climb. A little small, though.

I don't know for sure but let me tell you that I am so impressed with the new gym in Utah. The Quarry. I guess it's not way new but the staff is awesome, the people are friendly and there is tons to do there. They have some way difficult lead routes as well as an excellent bouldering area. Since it is fairly new, almost all the routes are very clean. There is tons of space. I don't know how much but it's the largest gym I've seen. And I have seen plenty. It's very well planned out by Jeff Pedersen, local Pro. If you ever get the chance while in the neighborhood I suggest you make this place a must see.

Peoples, Hardrock in Nunawadding, Melbourne. It wasn't great a while ago, but they just finished a bouldering cave. ALL of their wall have been covered in a cement/sand spray mixture, and painted to look just like rock. In the cave, they also have cool scuplutred pockets, just like real rock, and the roof is not just flat with huge jugs, there are flakes and horizontal cracks to clibm on. Oh, yeah, they haf a HUGE 25meter (yeas meters, not feet)lead roof. I was there yesterday, and caned the roof. It's awsome http://www.hardrock.com.au/inspire/index.html [ This Message was edited by: crux_clipper on 2001-12-05 18:45 ]

I currently live in Orange County, CA; So Rockreation in Costa Mesa is my "home" gym. But Stoneworks in Carrolton Tx (I used to live in Irving) is awesome. They've done a lot of work with that place since I first climbed there back in 1993. (See my Accidents post) Gets kind of loud. They are old grain silos. But, man can you get pumped.

I climb at two different gyms on a regular basis. While I am at school I climb at Planet Rock in Ann Arbor Michigan. While I am at home I climb at Rockquest in Cincinnati Ohio. Despite the fact that Planet Rock is a great gym, I prefer Rockquest because of the orginization, staff, atmosphere, and routes. Both are great but I like Rockquest alot more.

SportRock in Alexandria- cool because it has a station for pull-ups, hang boards, and campus boards. SportRock in Sterling- better bouldering scene- more problems, more variety, routes set daily. Both pump good tunes, too.

I gotta say City Beach Rock Club, in Fremont, CA. 16,000 square feet, 85% leadable, sexy and friendly staff, and some sweet bouldering for all levels. Its sick, sick i tell you. www.citybeach.com

my gym is hardcore all around. i do nothing but boulder. our bouldering problems are phenomenal. the routes are great too. but, the coolest thing is that its run by college kids from jersey. they're all great climbers and they don't care about who sucks and who doesn't. verticle reality rock gym. Cherry Hill new jersey.

Gotta add some of the gyms in New England where I learned to climb. (I'm in Seattle now) Boston Rock Gym was my home gym but Boulder Morty's and Vertical Dreams are great too. I think it is Vertical Dreams that has a leadable 3 story elevator shaft!!!
