In reply to: 2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen Wholly Schmolly! You mean you have a short-strip plane, a supersonic whoosh, and can land it near the crag? That's a nice ride, bro.

'97 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. I have no money now, I sort of hate myself for having it, but man- those Germans know how to make cars.

1990 Saab 900S. Low ground clearance, but when I need to, I'll get there. BTW - 155k and counting. No thoughts of selling it in the near future.

1999 Jeep Cherokee! I hope I never have to part with it! By far the best climbing/road tripping vehicle ever... and mine isn't even decked out yet!

I used to take my '68 camaro convertible on climbing trips - it sucked for that. Now, I also have a '94 Land Rover Discovery - needs a little work, but it's just what the doctor ordered for longer trips and hard-to-get-to places... A.W.

1994 Oldsmobile Bravada (basically a blazer), and yes about as bad of gas milage as you can get, but she just turned over 100k on a 2500 mile climbing/lying on the beach spring break trip, and I won't complain!

So you wanna talk impractical? I have a '93 Mustang GT convertible! the trunk is the size of a shoe box. i can fit about three quick draws and a set of micronuts back there. the back seat isn't much better. fortunately i can barely squeeze and action packer back there, as some of you saw when i showed up to the flag gathering in style. but i did manage to weasel the thing up that road to the upper devils canyon at queen creek. but that's cuz i got skillz behind the wheel! next up... 2001 tundra... maybe rob

2000 Honda Civic. 80,000 miles Not the best off-road car ever made but no worse than my old Geo Metro. I bet I spend a hell of a lot less on gas than most of you! Not the best road tripping car ever made but it does pretty good. Crank the tunes and cruise along.

'97 jeep when your car was originally designed to climb out of >45 degree bomb craters, you know you have a pretty rugged ride. And that was before improvements.

At my parents (with 5 places to climb within 30 miles), 1982 Subaru station wagon, rusted to hell but fun to drive. Maxes out at 85, downhill, floored in 4th (no 5th). Here (All crags 1+ hour drive away), 21 speed haro mountain bike. and the bus.... i want my car back!

Just for grins... I drive a 99 Toyota Camry. :P Virtually useless on climbing trips other than J-Tree where they have nicely paved most of the roads. Of course, I bought it before I got into climbing, so I didn't know any better.... but it gets AWESOME gas mileage! :D:P My next car will be anything with better ground clearance and tighter suspension, methinks.
