Looking for opinions on a good second set of nuts. I already have the smiley's/ABC huevos nuts, which I love. Thinking DMM wallnuts or maybe the OP Trinuts

Try the HB offsets, I like them a lot.

I`ll second the HB offsets. I also think the DMM Wallnuts are pretty funky too but for a second set of nuts the offsets would be my preffered choice. Go the Wallnuts if you want to get a few extra nuts over and above the offsets. But of course it all depends (tm) on what sort of rock you`re climbing on and the nature of the cracks you`re trying to slot your nuts into. ...Phil...

I third the HB offsets. If you're really into aid or flaring cracks or joshua tree or thin routes you'll love them even more. Even if you aren't they're an excellent complement to the regular nuts. Skip the two smallest sizes for free climbing unless you really want them for desperate and probably dangerous super-thin stuff. For a "third set" of nuts for aid beyond stoppers/rocks and HB Offsets, RP's, BD Swedges and DMM Peenuts offer other sets of shapes/sizes. The Peenuts are particularly unique and I find they work very well in small pin scars (blade / arrow scars). josh

One other comment - though I haven't really used them enough to fully experience them I think the tri-nuts are gimmicky crapola. Hard to place, harder to trust. josh

In reply to: I third the HB offsets. They are all I bother to carry on standard granite routes anymore. I used to carry a blended set of Offsets and BD nuts. I slowly realized I strongly preferred the HB's and always tried to place them first. Got to the point where I just left the others in the car. 5. Unless its a nut specific climb, I carry 5 offsets and thats it. As Eric Coomer once said, "Offsets Rule the Wasteland." DMT

I was looking for a second set so I bought a couple of the wallnuts. I fell in love with them so I finished the set off today. But then again I ahve never used the offsets. But the wallnuts are awsome. -Zac
