What does everybody do when they're climbing but they're going from rock to rock. Do you take your shoes off? or put something over them? :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

take 'em off! My shoes are pretty painful to walk/stand around in, so i just slip them off and slip on some other shoes. sometimes i even do this if the walk off of a topout is kinda long.

take 'em off....I see no use in added wear on shoes. As a poor college student, I can't afford to keep buying shoes!

At the local crag wich is like an outdoor gym(carderock,md) I walk around in the dirt then wipe them off on my pant leg at the base of the climb.

I take them off and put on my slippers(flip flops). I can't wear my rock shoes for more than 15-20 minutes anyways.

Most times i'll take off my shoes, but if the problem is close(less then ten feet to the next problem) i'll leave then on. shoe care wise, it is best to take them off.

take them off. dooh. you only wear your shoes on rock. my shoes are the last thing i out on before climbing. once you have them on, just powder your hands and off you go. and once on the floor again, the firs thing that comes off are shoes.

If you have teva like sandals you can keep your foot in your shoe and strap on your sandal and walk around. This is fast and keeps the shoes clean.

i take off my shoes and try not to cry from the pain my feet are in i so need to find the right pair..... flip flops tivas sandles are all good for flat terrian but be carfull to avoid class 4 withought ankle support whenever possible ... and oh yeh poison ivy

I always wear birkenstocks anyway (I live in Fl) and I've found if you loosen them up enough you can actually slide your climbing shoes into them. It takes a little getting used to, but you can just walk with them both on at the same time. ... Now that I think about it I guess it's stupid, but it does work.

Another good idea is to get some oversized bedroom slippers and slip them on over your shoes between boulders. Of course that assumes your shoes are comfortable enough to walk in... Other than that I would suggest having climbing shoes that are velcro or slip ons so it's easier to get into Chaco's, Teva's, flip flops, etc. right when you get off the rock.

I have thought of shoe covers, but anything lightweight would be to slippery, and anything without a traction sole would send you down the hill where I boulder. I thought of buying like, size 15 cheapo tennies to wear over my shoes, but you might as well have changed shoes by then.
My solution? Find shoes that are relatively comfortable for walking from problem to problem. When going to another group or area, wear the shoes if it's close, chang 'em if it's not. What is close is up to you to define.
