Just read a news story about a bunch of college kids that converted a bus to run on vegetable oil. They are driving it across the country to rock climb. Don't know if any of them frequent this site but if you do...

There are some cities in France where all buses use colza oil. I don't know if it's more ecological than petroleum oil, I know it smells weird, and I know the buses do go forward.

Suppose if they ran it on animal based oils (shortening/lard) it would offend Hindu, PETA, and or Orthodox Jews?

the kids from www.commonvision.org have a huge bio-desiel school bus. Also, the Pomona College Organic Farm has a veggi oil converted F-350 desiel truck. It's a start.
