As far as the verbal bashing goes, everyone is entitled to an opinion. PTPP has helped me with many of my aid climbing questions, as has several of his online "rivals." Slagging doesn't get anyone anywhere. Keep it on climbing. Matty

How can you say that when they genuinely ASK for it most of the time?! Heck, Pete thrives on the conflict and controversy. Case in point, Tom's recent thread. It's a deliberate troll! Of course he's going to stir the pot with a post that tounge-in-cheek parodies their style of wall climbing. I've met both Tom and Pete and sincerely enjoyed hearing their tales of adventure (well, Pete gets a little grandiose at times), but I have no desire to mimick their seige tactics. No biggie. Some people have a real problem with it and have expressed that in these forums. But don't -- not for a second -- think that neither Tom nor Pete plays a part in the whole slander stuff. At times, they incite it! Ed

I asked this same question about a year ago. Seems like the post are a bit better now than they use to be. Remember everything you need to know to get along you should have learned in kindergarten. :D

I started a thread like this (well, not specific to PTPP) a few weeks ago, and the answer was not exactly "yes." Like I said then, the buzz phrase "Can't we all just get along?" was, after all, coined by a man who had been beaten senseless... ;) So it goes...

no, we cannot get along. this is the internet, and we are people. when there are n00bs asking stupid questions, there will be always be flames. when there are posts about something we discussed last week, there will always be people saying "use the forum search you lazy bastard" when snailpaced climbers set themselves up as the aid climbing messiah, there will be flames. when people ask about how to use a cordelette in the aid forum, there will always be people yelling "wrong forum n00b" when slander flies, people get interesting and chime in. nothing like a style jihad to liven things up. when people post something wrong, they will be mocked. and when you are stuck with me moderating the whole mess, chaos will reign.

This site has been kinda lame lately! I think the last good aid topic was the F.A. Ethics talk. If we all got along there wouldn't be different ways to doing things. Many of us have differernt opinions on the ways we climb. This is a good thing. I just wish copperhead would get posting again! But then that would mean he wouldn't be climbing sick stuff. I find his stuff to be the best info posted on here.
