Is it okay to install bolts on a trad climb if you remove them when you are done? I mean they should just screw out, don't they? If not someone should invent a removable bolt.

well just incase it isnt a troll...they already make removable bolts...their drawback is you have to be hunting around for a lil hole thats been drilled by someome else...hell some times its hard enough to figure out the way the route goes nevermind looking for a hole for a bolt to go into

In case you weren't trolling... NO, its not okay. You will know when you are in a situation where you should place a bolt because you will have been climbing for years... In other words, don't place bolts.

How about gridding walls with casing bolts and attaching plastic holds as you go. This way you can change the holds on the climb at will and therefore have a new climb to onsight every time...

no, really... i don't think anyone would care.

it seems to make sense.

just make sure that you drill (screw) them on lead and by hand and you shouldn't catch any flak.

For those of you who aren't in on the little joke here...

you can read this:
In reply to:
Booo, this one gets my newly trademarked:

Travis's Troll-o-meter Quality Rating

2 out of 10 (2:10)

I mean come on! This is a pretty sad attempt to get a rise out of anti bolt guys. You would have been better to approach it from the angle of, "Is it okay to install bolts on a trad climb if you remove them when you are done? I mean they should just screw out, don't they?"

That would have bumped you up to mabey a 4 out of 10 but not a shade better.

Good effort, hope to see better work from you in the future!

removable bolts have already been invented for use in enviroments where normal bolts could cause aesthetic (or other) issues.

Goodness gracious there buddy.

I gave him the idea for the troll. It was a joke, as was pointed out multiple times in this thread. You know, "haha"?

Really, you shouldn't take ANYONE serious around here. None of us really know what we are talking about.

Yeah, someone told me it was ok to bring along my rock chisel just incase the route is too hard. That way I could just give it a few wacks and voila....I can do a 5.13 now.
