I am a California boy with the privilege of having grandparents who live in Fort Collins and who have a cabin just outside Estes Park. Needless to say I have plans for visiting! Anyway, I was wondering what the best guidebook was for the area around Estes Park, including the Diamond on Longs Peak since I want to bring some friends and climb hard on some fine alpine and trad routes!

i prefer the bernard gillet guidebooks, but richard rossiter also has books covering the same area. in any event there is one for the high peaks including longs, and another for the cragging around lumpy ridge and other parts of the estes valley.

I agree with atg200 - the guidebooks by bernard gillet are quite nice.

Thanks for the tips, my only other question then would be: how's the weather in March. Thats when my spring break happens to be and I was wondering if I would be able to do both alpine and trad/sport if I came out.
