What kind of music do climbers listen to before they climb, i listen to all sorts of music rap, alternative, punk....Does it affect the way you climb? Does anyone ever bring a radio along when they climb?

I usually warm up by sticking my size 44 up some euro punk heads A$$ that has techno or rap blaring at my crag. Then I spend a few hours listening to my fingers yell, my heart pound, my common sense arguing with my ego, and the occasional "twang" of my rope after taking a whipper.

No about the radio, but I tend to listen to something along the lines of Sempultura or Metallica, something to get the adrenaline flowing. My girlfriend perfers Widespread Panic. Go figure.

Now you guys might think im weird or something but whenever im about to climb. and im mean just before i hit the gym. i sit in the car and listen to some kind of symphony or opera. Yeah i know but it helps me relax and focus better. I guess its the artist in me cus i do that before i draw too. but any other time i listen to rap, hip hop, alternative or anything im in the mood for (System of a Down Rocks!) Daniel :)

The only place I can play music while climbing is in the gym. If I'm in charge of the cdplayer, I put in Metallica, Megadeth, Steve Miller Band and sometimes some Techno/Trance. I also play some eurpean gothic metal, but most ppl can't stand it!

Thievery Corporation, without a doubt. Any album. You have to listen to it to actually define the style. It's a little of world, trance, techno and funk all in one. The first time I heard it, I was sold.

I always have music in my head so I never need a radio while climbing. However, before the climb the music in the truck is always heavy. Metallica, Strapping Young Lad, Mudvayne, Prong, Fear Factory, GWAR. My partner is a big Greatful Dead  fan so sometimes I have to sit through that. Not all bad but nothing gets me pumped before a climb like metal. Mr. Mons

Actually I'd smack the downtempo/trip-hop label on Thievery Corporation since they were the pioneers of that genre... but label-schmabels. The music playing at the gym doesn't affect me much, 'cept for the past weekend when someone was playing Coldplay, Radiohead, and Sigur Ros. I dig all those bands, but hearing 'em at the gym was weird as they're more "loungy" for me.

techtrance and progressive trance..but i never put any cds on when i climb, most people find techno anoying for climbing, i understand why tho. techtrance is a very repetitive sound, i like it because it helps me focus.. :) like a growd roarring under me.. telling me to get higher. hardcore and punk mostly at the gym, i don't really like it ...it makes angry. ..........i i..................... ( ((d[>_<]b)) ) GN!!!!~ .......<( . )>................. ..........UU....................
