I'm pretty new to rock climbing and just wanted to know what's a good pulley to buy? One that is preferebly not to expensive, smooth working, and has a relative high load kn value, and fairly light weight.

The Petzl Fixe is a nice pulley that allows you to connect two 'biners so you can add an ascender and get some ratchet action going on. It's fairly lightweight at 105 grams, and is rated to 22kN.

Why do you need a haul pulley?

You say you are new to climbing. I know it is easy to think that if they make it, you need it. But unless you will be doing big walls, you can proabbly find better things to do with your money.

I have a Titanium haul pulley made by Ushba. It is the samll one, not the big wall hog thing.
I bought it at a gear swap thinking it was an Ushba Basic ascender.
It is almost new and I have never used it.
I would be happy to sell it to you if you feel you need it.
Send me a PM.

Well I'm actually using the pulley not for rockclimbing, but for rigging which I will be using to hoist a large fabricated paint palette. I am going to use ropes and an ascending system to climb a 20 foot x 48 foot high canvas that is mounted on a wall. In other words a very large mural. I need to be able to position the pallete vertically and horizontally. Thanks for your replies and info though.

You might just want to use prusiks. They are a lot cheaper. Do it old school style!

REI sells a pulley for about $12. You can get cheap pulleys at harware stores.

Unless you are doing a lot of lifting and lowering of this painting, you won't need anything fancy.

If it is really heavy or will be hung for long periods of time, rock gear is not really what you want, anyways. Get something steel that is designed for contious loading.
