Great thinking tenn_dawg. That should really take the edge off a tough problem.

I looked up the 5 day forecast of Gadsden on the net, and it says rain showers for sat... Do you think they will change it to SundaY?? When would we know?

i just checked
www.weather.com
and
www.accuweather.com

They both show clouds and wind for Saturday, but not much of a chance of precipitation. We should be in the clear, cause the rain is suppose to move out by Thursday night.

Good we been kinda lucky on weather for the last 2 comps. except it was pretty warm at LRC but it would suck to get rained out on this one.

and if you want a third opinion, check out the National Weather Service at http://www.noaa.gov/. (click here for the Gadsden forecast)

and if you want to see the nitty-gritty, click on "Forecast Discussion" under Additional Forecasts & Information at the bottom of the right column

Yep, you get an hour younger. Driving West is like the frigging fountain of youth.

Hit that IDL going west, and you cross into "yesterday". If you go fast enough, to beat the sun, you can ALMOST cross into 2 days ago, but sadly it's a physical impossibility.

off topic: wasn't that something Superman did in one of his movies? i vaguely remember something bad happening to someone (lois?) and so he went back in time to the point before the bad event. something like that, maybe?

when crossing the IDL you advance 24 hours forward, not back. You would go from Tuesday at noon, to Wednesday at 1100 am.
going east you would travel 24 hours backwards.

but anyway, knowledge is power, and power corrupts, so study hard and be evil.

The comp normally "starts" at 8:00 ( central or eastern?) but never really gets started til like 10:00...

just got the email from the Triple Crown guys.
essentials:

competitor reg is now $50. spectator reg is $20. only competitors will be allowed to climb (bracelets will be issued at check-in).

on-site registration begins at 7:30am CDT on Saturday, Dec. 6. Announcements will be made at 9am, and kick-off/climbing at 9:30.

the HP40 boulderfield will be closed to climbing on Th/Fri (Dec 4/5) to prep for the comp.

yes this is right if you go west it will be tomorrow, east and it will turn into yesterday... of course if you're going fast enough everyone will be dead when you land anyway, so what does it matter?

(ps i think superman actually spun the world in a reverse direction)

i agree. you should make her camp out. especially if that's what you want to do. just have a little campfire, and warm sleeping bags. you will never know its cool outside.

for those of you coming down Friday night, and looking to meet up with people, my tent will have christmas lights on it. I thought that would be a good way for people to find a meeting point.

Basically, you will need

3 biners for the tension ratchet
2 length of webbing one as long as you want the line, the other about 4 to 6 feet
And a couple assorted slings and biners for extra rigging.

There's nothing to setting it up, and taking it down, walking the fokker is the hard part. I've got a couple pictures of JoeSchmoe on the line at Del's. I need to get them scanned.
