My friend asked me one time if telemark skiing was hard. I just told him if it was easy we would call it snowboarding. :P

I am bringing my tools and monos for the condo dry tooling comp/lasagna dinner on Thursday.

Yeah, yeah, lets name it. Should be fun.

Hoppy sandbag? Like IPA-ish?

How bout something like, "End of the day, Ouray, IPA" -strained through a fat lady's panty hose with the fat lady still in em'.

Or, if it's not so hoppy... "Front Point Porter"

Post up people. We need more info Sandbag.

I doubt that...

Geo's the Enrique Englasias of Colorado... All the women swoon at the sight of his smooth bald head. Something about his ability to unlimber the timber.

P.S. There is an "i" in Liederhosen.

Me timber gets both shivered and limbered when I can run may hands through hair that flows down a man's back (sandbag, don't get excited - you're young enough to be my son!)

So, let us surmise:

1. Martha has timber.

2. It gets excited when she's around men with flowing back hair.

Ewww.... I might have to skip Ouray after all!

Martha, Im young enough to know better, old enough not to care
Allors ma cherie, Im not offended in the least, youre too much woman for me, i wouldnt want you to leave the festival on such a low note as to have killed a young man in his prime with so much more to offer.
Besides, im a scrabble dolt so i wouldnt be much fun if left to defending myself with my wit.
C'est la vie.....

ATTENTION:

After reading the above post, I pulled out all stops, made a few phone calls, and cashed in on a few favors.

By Presidential Decree (Dub-ya and I are members of the same fraternity and I covered for him when he was caught in a compromising position with an illegal alien wearing nothing but garters and a smile...He owed me one) the '04 Ouray Ice Festival is being relocated. It'll be held in kcrag's driveway.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (I once drank double 151 and Diet Coke with the Commandant of USCAE, a General Wally Builder, and drove him home before he could get amorous with a biker chick named Beulah... she had a nice tattoo and bad teeth, but could whistle like no other,) will mobilize the day after tomorrow, and will be building a system of pipes, walls, and cooling systems. Their official statement: "We, the USACE, understand that normal traffic routes will be disrupted, and we apologize for the inconvenience, but we're with the government, and we're here to help you." Kcrag, if you'd be kind enough to park on the street, that would help.

All clinics will be held in the driveway, basement, or backyard. Drytooling is allowed, but BYOS (Bring Your Own Spackle) to make repairs as needed. Bob Villa (who I know from a home improvement trade show... He'd got hold of some Kentucky Moonshine, and was trying to give a demonstration on "Self Gratification with a Belt Sander" to a group of nuns from Duluth) will be around to supervise all repairs.

Ogden, Twight, Donini, Lowe, Tackle, et al will be housed in the Boulder Hilton. A far cry from the accomodations they are used to, but they are willing to make the sacrifice. As Mark told me, "Never been to a fancy hotel... can I have the bathrobe?"

I've chartered a Sky Crane helicopter (Geo, can you fly one of these things??) and retained the services of a local demolition crew (a group of guys I knew from my childhood days of lighting Cherry Bomb fireworks and throwing them into the tree houses of the local neighborhood nerds.) They will blow the hell out of the foundation of the condo we've got reserved, then lift it (using steel cable, as webbing isn't strong enough,) and fly it to the parking lot of the Safeway just down the street. This will allow us to stay in the condo, and prevents Skibby from losing her deposit.

If kcrag won't come to the ice fest, the ice fest will come to kcrag.

That is all for now. More details will follow as they become available.

Help me please!

I know I am jumping in real late here but my buddy backed out of coming to Ouray and I cannot go an entire year without any ice. It's bad enough in my vertical wasteland known as Indiana. We normally come later in the month, but I figured it would be easier to meet good partners coming during the ice fest. I think I will be coming early in the week, maybe Monday. Can you help a fellow climber out. I am a firefighter so I am not too bright (running into burning buildings and all), but I am a father so I do play it safe.

What do you need help with, Ron?

Need lodging? Talk to Skibabeage, as she's coordinating the Condo/Townhouse. It's $150 per person from Thursday (Jan 15th) through Sunday (18th) nights. Photos and links are available in the first few pages of this thread. We may or may not have room... talk to Skibabeage.

Need transportation from the airport? I'm leaving from Denver on Thursday (Jan 15th) morning, and would be willing to give ya a ride if you can help share gas costs.

Need gear? Lots of it for rent at numerous Colorado climbing shops. More to demo at Ouray, but supplies might not be enough for everyone, so you're safest to BYOG.

Need a partner? There's going to be lots of people at the festival, and finding a partner shouldn't be a problem if you're outgoing and willing to belay others first.

What, exactly do you need help with?

I'm speaking up...

I don't think I need transportation help. I haven't hammered it all out yet. I am okay with gear. If you have people back out from your condo or whatever...definitely count me in. I live with six other guys at the station...I'm pretty good at cleaning up after myself. And I definitely need partners on the ice.

Thanks for getting back with me.

Well, thats more beer(so far un-named to date) for the rest i guess. Jeesh, I guess we'll have enough booze and food with the beer lasagna and singlemalt to host the after party party.
Geo, rally the troops, whip them into a high pitched furor, and deploy them the ice tools.
