In reply to: I realize it's only been a week since I jumped on board this crazy ship, but I can only bet the frenzy that will be reached by 1/16 will be of Biblical proportions. Velcro gloves, Sexy sheep Dogs... what David Lynch could do with this kind of stuff. r.r. pffffft, where do you think he trolls for his best ideas? Truth is always stranger then fiction my good man, and you better be ready for the truth this bunch can spew.....

So...working in the non-public service world...I figure my 15 hour days equal something like an (and pardon my approximation) 80/48 split....of course the difference being that I don't get to sleep during my "on" time...

You had to push the buttons... didn't you? How bout this -- tonight you set 3 alarm clocks. One at 1 a.m., one at 3 a.m. and one at 5 a.m. When the first one goes off -- get up, go outside in the cold run a lap or two around the house and try to get back to sleep. Until the next one goes off. Maybe try giving mouth to mouth to a neigbor next time. At five, put on your coat, maybe your dana backback (filled with trad gear) and hose down the grill. Tell me how you feel the next day. And that's an uneventful night. r.r.

Don't need the alarms...got a four month old and a three year old doing it for me...haven't had more than four continuous hours sleep in more than three years! Well, maybe except for the night I spent in Leadville at Geo's, I may have squeaked 4.5 hrs outta that one, but I've got to say, it was a refreshing change of pace to be beat over the head with a pillow at 3am by a woman other than my wife… And yep, had to push the button…just to see you guys squirm… Really….I’m joking though, got nothin’ but R-E-S-P-E-C-T for you fools… Hey Josh, when you gonna let me bring my boy down to the station for the Grand Tour?

That's what I'm here for. ;) So... Gonna be looking for a roommate soon?   I'm going to get on some ice this weekend, come hell or high water. Even if it means stabbing my axe into the frost inside my freezer, wearing my harness and tied into the cabinet doors...

Flamer: In reply to: Until the next one goes off. Maybe try giving mouth to mouth to a neigbor next time. I've tried this, and just a quick FYI; if you do, you won't need the third alarm, they wake you at seven thirty at the county lock-up.

I ever tell you about the 36 hour shift's I've pull chasing a wildfire through the woods?? NOT FUN. After about 20 hours you're stumbling around hoping something bad doesn't happen 'cause you don't have the energy to think let alone react! josh Ron- OH Now I really feel your pain!! And in regard's to Kelly days , I'll share alittle story about an old timers wife. Seems Mrs. Oldtimer was at a wife's luncheon, one of her friends mentioned that her husband was on kelly day that week....And Mrs. Oldtimer says..."what's a kelly day?".....her husband had been with the Dept. for 20 years!!!HAHA!! That's firemen for you! josh
