In reply to: in the frozen back of the Sheriff's Jeep to snag the Taser for nothing! So that's what you call it? I've always referred to it as "Playing Hide the Salami..." "Snag the Taser", eh? As in: "Careful, I've got a loaded Taser!" or "Ma'am, you don't want me to shock you with my powerful Taser, do you?" ;) Nice euphamism, Skibbs.

hmmmm ... mother martha is uncharacteristically quiet. i've a feeling she'll soon respond with all the passion and fire an italian woman can muster. :o reno: "it's [i:7a53187cdc]quiet[/i:7a53187cdc]." geo: "yeah ... [i:7a53187cdc]too[/i:7a53187cdc] quiet." :?

In reply to: reno: "it's quiet." geo: "yeah ... too quiet." :? I can't figure out how to type it, but I've got the song from "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" running through my head. Never fear, Mister Geo. If we stick together as men do, we can defeat this woman beast known as Skibby. I've got your "six," bro...

In reply to: "HANG ON, GOOSE, WE'RE GOING VERTICAL!" Is that anything like "Sit down, strap in, shut up, and hold on!" ??? Methinks Skibby is gonna kick our backsides when she sees us in Ouray. We might be better off bivying on a portaledge on the ice.

I thought that was better than "dreaming of geo". Keep an eye out for it -- should be on line soon.  r.r.

In reply to: thanks, sharpie! okay ... 0530 ... time to head out for some tool-swinging, icy fun with reno. :D At 0530, I had been on the road for 30 minutes already. I tell ya, living "Metro" sucks at times. Too far away from the real fun. If you don't know what "Metro" means, ask Flamer! (Sorry, buddy... couldn't resist!) Gotta tell ya folks, this Ice Climbing thing is PHAT TRIPPIN, YO! Totally freaking wild. Geo took me out to Lincoln Falls, and we had a grand ol' time. I have to give my bald buddy a man-hug and say "Thanks, Geo!" for being patient enought to heft my sorry, skinny, front-range free climbing freaky form up the ice. I suck, and I know it, but it was fun. Geo's patience and tutelage got me through. Mad Props, Mr. Potato Head Guy! I'm tired, sore, sweaty, and smelly. And very, very happy. Going to surf the web for ice tool deals... any suggesitons?

In reply to: sorry, punk, i'm gonna' have to disagree. for alpine climbing i would suggest something like the charlet moser pulsar. it has just enough of a bent handle to keep you from bashing yer knuckles, a good swing weight, and is built like a truck. i don't like bent shaft tools for alpine because they're difficult to plunge shaft-first into the snow for approaches/walk-offs, and they're pretty much impossible to use for self-arrest. you're not gonna' pick up any hot chicks driving the pulsars, that's for sure; the design is over ten years old. but it's a proven tool for alpine routes. I bought a pair of these recently, and have swung on them, but now im just a old tooled dork, no hot ice babes to chase me around. I better make a fortified beer with which to ply the wares of yonder ice babes....
