In reply to: As far as bringin hotties...hmmm...I think I'll keep my hotty to myself... Probably a wise idea, considering how many of us guys with "Solid Steel and Sex Appeal" there will be at the RC.com Ouray House. Give her a taste of Flamer and his ability to handle a "charged hose", me and my in-depth knowledge of anatomy, Geo and his "swinging tools", and alpinerocket's ability to combine all three of these, and she'd never come home again. :)

In reply to: stilletto-heel-wearin', chanel no. 5-reekin', big-haired, fur-bearin' city girls ... or plastic boot-clompin', sweaty, gore-tex-clad, hard-chicks with helmet hair. i dunno', boys ... there sure is something sexy about a chick in crampons. I've always been partial to a hard-chick in CFM pumps. (Geo -- with the example in Neptune Mountaineering, I know you know what this means.) I seriously doubt that CFMs are crampon compatible, but there are certain times when sharp, pointy things are inappropriate. Well, stilettos excepted.

In reply to: there are certain times when sharp, pointy things are inappropriate. Does that include spurs? Cause there's this little honey on East Colfax that is willing to wear cowboy boots, spurs, bring a lasso and ... Oh, never mind.

Only the ones who are straight, believe dogs are for fetching the paper, and sheep are for wool.

I was just curious... between art openings, lasagna dinners, beer drinking, wine tasting, sheep herding, goat roping, initiation ceremonies, hot springs dipping, sheriff car sitting, and the like (not that there is anything wrong with the above) will there be time left for climbing? r.r.

Ron, cmon man, theres 24 hours in a day. youll get enough sleeping when youre dead man. And to the Knights who formerly said 'nee', I think ITS about time we turned it back up a notch....to Eleven(in the immortal words of Spinal Tap Guitarist extraordinaire, NIgel Tuffnel...)

Ron: When you hang out with the Colorado Contingent during such large scale events, the actual time spent climbing is reduced. There is an actual mathematical formula to calculate in advance how much climbing you will do, but until you learn the secret initiation handshake, we can't tell you the formula. It's written on ancient papyrus, locked in a Wizard's Chest, and guarded by a terrible three-headed Sheep-Dog thing. Only one who's spirit is corrupted will pass such a trial. What usually happens is that the climbs take on a life of their own, and become rather like fishing stories: "Oh, man... when I was hanging with my Colorado climbing buddies, we sent this WICKED gnarly 3 pitch MI 8+/5.12d/x overhanging route, and in true Colorado style, we only placed three pieces of gear. I took a mighty 40 foot whipper on a skanky #3HB off-set I'd wedged into a flaring parallel seam, but it held, thankfully, and I sent the route next attempt. I called it 'Easy Skankin.'" Oh, and we drink lots of beer during this whole process. You'll see what I mean in a few weeks.

I don't know.... I am still a little nervous about this Colorado Contingent. I am afraid that I am going to return to Indiana looking like Steve Bartman after the 6th game of the NLCS. Dazed and confused and considering a witness relocation program. r.r.

I know it's a little early for the ice festival but I'm in Fort Collins, Colorado and need a ride (one way) to meet friends in Ouray this weekend (any day: December 27, 28 or 29 -- 26th might even work). Happy to pitch in for gas. If you have an extra seat pm or email me lora.lei@comcast.net Thanks
