YEs it is.......
The third and final beer for the Ouray ICe festival beer triumverate was loaded into the fermenter this morning after a painstakingly complex recipe was put to the test.......we'll see in about 10 days just how good beer can really taste after a long hard sweaty day of climbing is over. ANd thats just going from the bedroom to the bathroom, who knows what will happen on the ice.....

What's that sound in the distance?

Oh, it's the waaaaaaambulance

Broken ribs? Call us when you've amputated your own arm with a pocketknife, used it as a ski pole to ski a 45 degree double black with ice moguls, and later sewed it back on with a needle and thread, while sterilizing the needle in 151 Bacardi. THEN we'l be impressed.

and, good call on using bacardi to sterilize; wouldn't want to waste even a wee [i:95061a9678]dram[/i:95061a9678] of my single malt.

Reminder: Sign up for what food stuff you will bring if you're staying in the cabin (page 24, I think?) Doesn't have to be much, but everyone should bring something to contribute, to keep things fair. Here's a list of things you could bring:

-- Bagels, Fresh Fruit, Oatmeal, cereal/milk, waffles, fruit, bagels, lunch meat, bread, and chips.

-- Chips, dips, snacks are always a hit as well.

As of now, the condo menu is as follows:

Thursday Dinner
-- Lasagna: Reno (one veggie, one meat.)
-- Salad: Skibby (special sauce on the side, thanks!)
-- Wine: Redpointron, Amber_chk, alpinerocket, and Reno.

Saturday Breakfast
-- Pancakes: Geo (You can't handle the pancakes!)
-- Eggs: Tracyroach (he he he...)
-- Coffee: Geo (Got a grinder?)

Sunday Dinner: Skibby's Surprise (Be afraid... be very afraid.)

I bought most of the lasagna makings this morning. The Veggie Version will have: Olives, Mushrooms (no, Skibby... not the Magical kind you remember -- or DON'T remember -- from the 70's,) Green Peppers, Artichokes, Spinach, Sun Dried tomatos, onion, and eggplant. The Mighty Meaty batch will have ground beef, italian sausage, and pepperoni.

Bring your appetite.

I don't really have anything to say here, but I simply CAN NOT let this thread sit on 666 posts. That's just bad mojo, and I feel a certain obligation to do something about it.

By no means am I some self-righteous Bible Tumping, Gospel Preaching, Repent or be Damned type of person. No sir... I'm God's Own Drunk and a fearless man, but why take chances?

Ice Festival Hijacking update

The pipes and hoses are in place at kcrag's place. They're well concealed to blend in with the natural fauna and flora, lest we offend the sensibilities of some pompous Boulderite, but they're in. Thanks to the cold snap that has overwhelmed the Denver metro area (-20 windchill, -4 temp at 0600 today,) we've got plenty of ice. With a little luck, the predicted high of 52 on Friday will NOT happen, and the ice will stay in. I've got first dibs on that natural mixed line that includes a left foot stem to the rain gutter (file those points sharp, folks!) and a mantle on the bay window frame. I think I'll name it "That'sa m-Ouray!"

Geo and I are flying to Ouray day after tomorrow to go blow up the foundation of the condo and airlift it back here with the sky crane. I had to recruit some new demolition guys, since my old buddies are not available (one is in jail for failure to pay child support; the other met a Brazilian lady and is living in Rio, playing the merengue, and drinking rum collins in a thong.) Luckily, I found a cadre of former Navy UDT guys who will work for beer. Geo, you don't have any problems working with squids, do ya?

I spoke with Bob, the General Manager of the Safeway up the road from kcrag's place, and he's still willing to let everyone camp in the parking lot. He will not, however, agree to my request that he tear up the asphalt to make for softer camp sites, so bring a Therma-Rest. Or two, if you're a wimpy sport climber.

Thank you for your support.

I got two bottles of red wine, one cab and one shiraz, and would be more than happy to contribute a little coin to whomever brings some extra food because the plans have changed....flying into grand junction and taking the bus down to Ouray (space is a premium -- I don't know if the Hawaiian shirt is going to make the trip)
