In reply to: someone mount a SAR effort so I don't freeze my butt off alone in the backseat of my Jeep. Yeah right like you'd be "alone"....paging Mr. Sheriff- You have a SWF in a dominatrix outfit "stranded" on a lonesome highway. I'll be there Thursday afternoon Planning on harassing you guys at dinner- I might have some friends in tow- including Tim and Erin of 11 mile fame. josh

In reply to: Omega is looking for images for its photo archives of Omega gear in use. Free set of tools to the best photo's of male and female climbers using Omega Gear that can be used in a catalog! Hmmm... (Reno puts on his thinking cap... which looks rather like a cross between a fedora and a Beanie... and thinks...) "Would a pic of Geo frontpointing the drywall aound the bay window of the townhome appeal to the fine folks at Omega?" The condo owners might want a share of the free gear in lieu of damages to their place, but I think that's fair. I would continue the countdown of days, but we're so close, I'm counting HOURS... 42 from now, and I start driving. 48 from now, and I should be swinging my tools. Hot damn.

In reply to: Satans' Twin Sister and I are heading out by around 9 AM on Thursday. She's getting her heater box tricked open today, so hopefully I won't have to stop every 30 minutes to thaw my body and scrape the windshield. Just a heads up, though, given the nasty nature of this motorized beast, I'm taking CR 1 out of Kremmling into State Bridge (so I can avoid Vail pass) and on down to I-70, then through Clifton and south on 50 to 550. If the Devil decides to have his Due and I'm not there by dark, someone mount a SAR effort so I don't freeze my butt off alone in the backseat of my Jeep. See you all on Thursday and we can drink wine, eat lasagne, sharpen our picks, and tell tall tales. :P BTW, STS is the UGLIEST gunmetal grey Jeep Cherokee on the roads of Colorado to date. Can't miss it. Hey Skibs, Make sure you turn you beacon to transmit and load with fresh batteries so we can hone in you if we need to darling. Make sure you have a way to contact us, and in the event youre stranded, how will we know where to get an additional key so we dont have 15 dirtbags in the parking lot upseting the neighbors with our loud party and bonfire.... On the final note, the two newest beers turned out as expected, and will be named by the participants as we see fit. Of course ill give my $.02 first since i created these little guys, I'll gladly take input so its a fun naming and libating experience..... Up Up and Ouray!

In reply to: Official word is Satan's Twin Sister is frigid. Her heater core is blocked (I know the feeling!). Sooooo, I'll be driving like a bat outta h$ll to get there before my lips turn blue or before they cast me as the frozen Hatchet Jack in the sequel to Jeremiah Johnson. Fill up a couple Nalgene bottles with boiling water, and tuck 'em inside your jacket (in your armpits, small of the back, etc.) Should help keep your core warm, and THAT will help keep the fingers and toes warm.
In reply to: Any batteries I have for my beacon have already been used for something else......... Must not comment.

Skibs In reply to: Roger that Mistress Domina Estrogena, its important to prioritize on the applicable use of batteries esp in said emergncy, at least youll have a rich warm smill frozen on your face. As for the water bottles, dont heat the interior too much and vent your window a hair to keep the water vapor down.....of course that is only if youre driving, if youre stranded and the sherriff is stopping by to help out, by all means fog them windows up sumfin fierce woman YEAAAHHHHHAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

WOOOOO HOOOOO  It's getting so close I can't contain myself any longer. Geo scared the crap out of me about the initiation ritual and I have just regained my composure, although my sphincter is still quivering a bit. On my quest for total enlightenment I have become at ease with the thought of fulfilling the initiation requirements. Alpinerocket & I will be there Thursday evening for the dinner and I wasn't sure if we were bringing the Wine or the sheep. Oh well, we'll bring plenty of both. Here's to Ouray Ice Fest & Meeting you all... Cheers! ~ Jim

In reply to: ... I have just regained my composure, although my sphincter is still quivering a bit. You think your sphincter is quivering NOW? Need I remind you that the townhome will be populated with only one woman and 11 men? Or, in the immortal words of our sagacious leader, Geo: "If you're on top, you ain't gay."

Just got a Picture from a friend of mine that spent the weekend in Ouray, man, its amazing. There is a goodly number of fire fighter /paramedic types in our group so theyll appreciate the latest stout with some alacrity, and Geo, its like drinking Single Malt Lagavulin meets hops......truly unique. What time you in Ouray Geo? Im going in tomorrow night late, and i remember you have to run off and pick up another victim, ur, i mean participant to the festivities and then youll be back later. Ill see if Redpointron and i cant cause a little trouble before you get back. Tally one big A$$ party master switch is on!

The maps from last year at the park aren't available on the Park website anymore, so I put up the .gif copies on my site. If you want them beforehand (I think they'll be available there in pamphlet format, but I ain't guaranteeing anything), download and print them from here: http://www.geocities.com/tradkelly/pictures/OurayIcePark1.gif http://www.geocities.com/tradkelly/pictures/OurayIcePark2.gif http://www.geocities.com/tradkelly/pictures/OurayIcePark3.gif

Just so I won't be totally outdone by Sandbag, I've packed a selection of classic tradkelly homebrews for the party; look forward to Success Orange Pale Ale, Biohazard Pale, and Crystal Mill Bitter, amongst others. There'll be plenty for everyone. Hope this place is furnished... with like, a dishwasher. (ooh, ooh, I can maybe wash my helmet straps finally!) Don't no one forget shorts for the hot springs pool, a couple of blocks away, and we'll have dial-up internet access (free) from the condo. Sean and I should be pulling in on Thurs evening after some tele-time in Summit, so save us some chow. Check conditions in the area (out-of-park too) at http://www.skywardmountaineering.com/current.html .
