Who would win in a battle of wits, Dennis Miller or Bill Maher? My money is on Miller. Curt

Um, Jon Stewart, perhaps. Dennis Miller changes sides as often as I change my toilet paper, and simply tries to impress with sesquipedalian language (irony!). Bill Maher has lost a lot of bite since that whole 9-11 thing. He’s got a good blog, though, http://www.safesearching.com/billmaher/blog/

Miller is very conservative, outspoken, and he doesn't give a flyin fuk what anyone else thinks... He's like Nuge in a suit!

The only time you ever see Miller is when he has a prepared speech he raddles off. Its like hes always doing a damn stand up act. Maher seems more unscripted... But then I don't really give a rat's ass...

Most certainly, Miller. I've seen him go on a few pretty good spontaneous rants. I'd also take Dennis Leary over Al Franken.

Anne Coulter would build a cannibalistic master race, kill, and then consume all other pundits, all while raving madly about the virtues of sperm donation by professional McCarthy impersonators.

Screw your talking heads. My money is on P.J. O'Rourke. Saw him speak once, and he's just as funny on the podium as he is in print.

Miller, although he could cut out a few of the extra-long words. Some of them are necessary and/or appropriate, but sometimes it seems that he's just trying to show everyone how smart he is.

In reply to: Miller, although he could cut out a few of the extra-long words. Some of them are necessary and/or appropriate, but sometimes it seems that he's just trying to show everyone how smart he is. Sure. But that's why I put Maher on the opposing side of this argument. He also tries to act like he is smarter than everyone he is talking to. Curt

Too funny. It was impressive how he came up from behind and blind-sided the guy.

That's too funny. I guess Al only believes in freedom of speech if it's something he wants to hear.

In reply to: That's too funny. I guess Al only believes in freedom of speech if it's something he wants to hear. While I originally looked at it that way, the guy was just a heckler. If you gave a rally, paid for the gig, and rented the PA equipment, wouldn't you say it was your right to use it uninterrupted by shouting hecklers? Free speech does not equal the freedom to shout down others at their rallies. It's your show. Al wasn't speaking, either. He was being a bouncer, so in that light what he did made sense.

Change the characters around a bit, and see if you still feel the same way. If this was a Bush rally and Dennis Miller tackled a protesting green party member from behind, I am willing to bet that the reaction would be just a bit different. The media would be screaming about the "Republican Assault on Free Speech!" Al should be arrested for Assault and Battery, plain and simple.

What was not mentioned in the article was the heckler's behavior. Was he just yelling or was he being combative? Does merely mouthing off merit a blindside tackle?
