well, the subject says it all. i've been living in chicago about 5 months now and i havn't been out climbing once. my wife doesn't climb and i havn't met that many poeple yet. soooo, if another 25ish year old moderate skill male climber needs a partner to head out a couple times a month please drop me a PM. i have all climbing gear sans trad rack (we are definitly working on that), full backcountry camping/hiking gear, a reliable car, enough skills and experience to stay out of trouble and get out of it as necessary, and a bunch of vacation days burning a hole in my pocket so a couple of midweek trips would be fun.

Sorry :) 25 FEMALE climber here. But I have plenty of 25ish MALE (and female) climbing partners and we normally climb at Vertical Endeavors, so you should stop by some time. There is always someone in that age range there. Another place to try is Hidden Peaks to the west and Lincoln Park Athletic Club to the north - both in the city. There are plenty of climbers out there :D we're just not in town much on the weekends. That's the problem with living the the flatlands of Chicago.

I've seen so many threads (joke or not) by guys asking for a female partner. I think this is the first! Probably because he is married.... Josh

In reply to: I've seen so many threads (joke or not) by guys asking for a female partner. I think this is the first! Probably because he is married.... Josh we have a winner 8) i realized today that i live about a 3 minute slow paced hike away from hidden peaks. so i guess i best get my self over thier.. but i gotta admit, i'm just not a big fan of gym climbing, i do need the workout though. though i'm sure if i found a male climbing partner who happened to have a non-climbing female significant other my wife would be thrilled :) actually though, she has expressed a slight intrest in climbing, who knows, she may actually like it when she gets a chance to try.

You just have to get your wife out there. Has she climbed before? What didn't she like about it? Does she know how to belay? If not teach her (or get her a set of lessons) and then head up to Devils Lake for a little TR, trad, or bouldering fun (no sport up there). The lake also has great camping and hiking, plus you can rent a canoe and paddle around the lake. It really makes a nice weekend trip and is only 3 hours or so away. Just book a camp site early (reservations require two nights) and the first come fill fast! Definitely try Hidden Peaks - see you have climbing so close by and you didn't even know it!

okay, bringing this old thread of mine back up to the top. i've met some cool poeple that i've climbed with thanks to this board, but not yet anybody who i've felt has the same dedication to the sport that i do. i'm sick of going to VE and need to hook up with a dude that wants to go do more outdoor climbing. i'm actually hopeing to head to devils lake this weekend, but i realize nobody may even see the thread by then so its up in the air. if anybody is intrested, send me a pm, we'll hook up for a beer here in town, and make some plans to head to devils lake or sumptin.

I have the same predicament in St. Louis. I moved back to the area from Springfield, MO in Aug 03 and still have not been able to find a regular partner, so I have been driving back down to Arkansas every chance I get. It seems like everyone I meet who climbs just wants to go to the gym. I am a 24 year old single guy who also has modest abilities, although, I do have most of a trad rack. Still a little light on larger cams. I could probably work out a trip to Devil's Lake or Southern Il sometime in early April. let me know if you are interested. Also, it is a bit of a drive for you, but I am going to Sam's Throne AR the weekend of March 19th. Will

I'm freshly 26, climb up to the 5.9 range mostly, have redpoint a few hig 10's, climb every weekend the weather allows (no gym here), and I am male. Holla

I'm freshly 22, male with blonde hair and blue eyes... I live in Indiana but still enjoy long walks on the beach. I climb mostly in TN and SoIll but will venture outside of my confort zone. I have a girlfriend of 5 years who doesn't climb much. I seek a climbing partner interested in poetry, religion, and gazing at the stars. signed, ropegun whore

I feel your pain. I miss my climbing buds back in Texas. You would hardly think there would be so many dedicated climbing people in Austin, but I found them. We climbed every damn week and both weekend days. Can't wait for one of them to come climb with me in May. It's been mostly one-shot outings here. Lame-o.
