So all you NC climbers, what's the best route in the state (Any grade, any type, any length)? I'll pick Zoo View at Moore's. Steep, intimidating and utterly improbabable 2-pitch trad line up the middle of the Circus Wall. Looks 5.12-ish from the ground; how on earth does this thing go at only 5.7?! Down side: Lame-ass entry pitch to gain the starting ledge. Unexpected up side: Blueberry bushes on starting ledge.

The Great Arch is a classic, very fun route, although pretty easy. I second Zoo View as one of the best. It is an amazing route and very hard to believe it is only 5.7.

I certainly agree---Zoo View is wildly entertaining, super super good. I think my favorite might be Built to Tilt.....the moves, the holds, and the position, make it truly unforgettable.

NC's loaded with great routes, and areas, though. North Ridge of Table Rock. Pretty awesome position and movement for a 5.5. Great Arch, Great White Way, Grand Funk Railroad at Stone. The Nose at Looking Glass. Tons of neat crack climbs at Rumbling Bald (Cereal Buttress). Fruit Loops, Frosted Flake. Can you beat Zambra's in Asheville, or the brew pubs? Mucho pork-cicles too, yum yum. Brian in SLC

I'll have to say I agree with Zoo View. Its one of best routes I've done at Moores. Grand Funk Railroad at Stone. Can't decide between Sundial or Gemini Crack at Looking Glass.

rockinice, Built to Tilt is definitely way up my list also. A partner and I used to describe big positive holds as "Zoo View huge," but even bigger than that is "Buit to Tilt huge". Somebody brought up Lost in Space at Hawksbill; I would be remiss without mentioning the Fat Lady, both variations. Steep, juggy, bomber gear, immaculate - there's not a speck of dust on that route. But then, almost everything on Hawksbill is outstanding.

Zoo View is good, but Air Show to the left of it about 50 feet is better. The Womb at Looking Glass gets my vote.
