My partner and I are planning to climb the Ho Chi Minh Trail on Middle Cathedral in Yosemite this Saturday. Since it's a committing 20-pitch route, we're looking for beta on:

1) Recommendations on rappelling if we decide to turn back due to time constraints
2) Best options for descent from the top - (I recall that the old descent got trashed due to rock fall two years ago)
3) General advice on the route itself... routefinding, suggestions, etc.

I've searched various forums for beta, but haven't seen anything posted recently. Thanks in advance!

- Mike

wish i could help, however i have yet to do the route. please post a tr and/or update the routes db after your send. in the meantime, C4 would be a fertile info gathering area. just be sure to crosscheck beta and not succumb to evil featherbagging.

Clint Cummins and friends did the first ascent. he is always happy to give beta to anyone at any time. i'm reluctant to give out his personal email, but if you google the above name it will point you to his stanford climbing website. the info you want may well be posted there already or there may be a link to his stanford email address.

Thank you! He did, in fact, send some great info, and I'm really looking forward to getting on his route. Looks like rain this weekend, though...

That may have been my climbing partner posting. She told me that she asked online as well, but we didn't coordinate our attempts to ask for beta.
