People from the Springs - Looks like I will need a ride to shelf on sunday after all. Are we going to do the usuall and meet at the gym say 8:00? A guy from Denver might be coming down and could possibly need a ride as well or he may just meet us there. Is cactus cliff the spot we are headed to? Holly, dont think anyone is going to be there the whole weekend but havre a few carloads going down sunday. Larry, Im taking today off, the Red Sox play the Yankees on TV tonight and its just best that Im alone! We were on New Era at 9:00 and finished around 11:00 - not a speed record or anything but it was still awesome! Didnt see any webbing kicking around.

In reply to: In reply to: so are y'all headed to shelf for the whole weekend? Just Saturday for me -- Holly, you up for the commute? timstich -- None other than our very own Bob D. had a heavy hand in developing Plotinus. It's a great wall, well bolted, with lots of 10s and 11s. Further upstream (aka "Upper Dream Canyon", um duh), are also some great routes. Upper Dream Canyon is best accessed by driving up Sugarloaf Road, then hiking down to the crags. Upper also has some 8s and 9s, routes up to 3 pitches, and a few trad lines. And for those with an "alternative" flair, it has long been a haunt for gays and nudists. What really irritates me is that I never see female nudists suntanning -- or whatever -- there. The gals may occasionally enjoy "the show" while climbing, but if I ever drop a carabiner there, I'm kicking it all the way to Eldo before I bend over to pick it up. As Bob mentions on climbingboulder, there's another guy who did quite a lot of the route development there as well. But this guy is a quiet, unassuming guy, so I've already forgotten his name. Ha ha! Well, I have a poor memory for names anyway. Read the bat roost thing in comments as well. Interesting. I'll try the Sugarloaf access next time. Sounds kind of like Hippie Hollow on Lake Travis near Austin.

In reply to: Uh oh Skibby, sounds like trouble in paradise.... So, uhh, the Patagonian birthday peregrination is looking a bit dubious??? :wtf: What the heck is "peregrination"?? Sharpie... this is yer old buddy Reno talking here. Yes, the guy with whom you drank excessive beer in Ouray, killing large numbers of brain cells, and bragging about what we could do to Pizza Girl. You should know better than to use words with more than two syllables around here. At first, I thought mebbe you were talking about Perigrine falcons... this being nesting season and many routes in Eldo or on the Flatirons closed and all. Then mebbe I figured you was hitting the bottle, drinking a bottle of Perigrino. Maybe it's a Third World country inhabited by Pears. Whatever the case may be, try to use smaller words next time. After all, you never know when Geo will show up here, and we wouldn't want him to strain his USMC government issued Model 1-Mark Zero jarhead brain. The lack of hair to insulate his dome might have resulted in cerebral hypothermia. Thank you.... that is all.

**Oh no! Soon it will be like, "Sorry boys, got to clean the gutters." Or "Sorry boys, playing some golf witht the guys from the club." The lure of domesticity is pulling Kyle away with a tremendous force even as I type!! James as well. Quick people we have to mobilize!!** Zoso Fear not Dave and the jovial participants of the front range climbs thread, the climbing gods have gracefully smiled on my intentions for this weekend. Turns out wifey wants to hike up in boulder Saturday morning followed by house hunting that afternoon. Leaving Sunday morning open for some vertical adventures in the Denver area. Still bummed I can't make shelf, but would definately be up for some climbing/bouldering Sunday close to home (CCC, Boulder Canyon, Eldo, Golden...etc) Who is willing to celebrate this plesant turn of events and save me from a suburban fate of yard work and a long "honey do" list Sunday am? PLEASE! KT

But this guy is a quiet, unassuming guy, so I've already forgotten his name. Bob's partner for many of the Plotinus routes was Vaino Kodas. Vaino also supplied the excellent photos/topos for the routes in CB.com. BTW, Upper Dream Canyon is pretty well documented in Rossiter's printed guide to Boulder Canyon. Note that finding your way around Upper Dream Canyon can be a little interesting the first time out.

I'm under the impression that everyone is gonna be at Shelf this Sunday... Correct? Not correct? Somewhat sorta-pseudo correct? I'm in for anywhere on Sunday.... as long as I can be back in Denver by 10 pm that night (working Monday morning... early.) So, if it's Shelf, then how do I get there?

Yeah nobody is saying much here! Reno, Myself and highabove and rltodd and maybe heather2004 will be in shelf on sunday, we are meeting at the sport climbing center at 8:00 am sunday morning and will be going to cactus cliffs. Im just making plans for everybody because no one else has posted up so Im assuming this is ok with everyone. Take 25 and get off at the garden of the gods exit, turn left onto garden of the gods pkwy, take a left on northpark and then a left into the parking lot of scc. Its alittle hard to see but there is a small green sign there. Your more than welcome to hook up with us if you want. Wigglestick was also thinking of going but I think he is going down saturday night and camping. I will be checking my pm sat night if you need any more info. Hope to see you there.

You're going bolting with Bob. See you at Shelf on Sunday. Time to give back.

Bob, doo-ood. I'm there. Dueling Bosch's, hammers ready, bolts at 20 paces. Say the word, give me a time, and belay slave shorty has gri-gri in hand and ready to go. I'm assuming skibby will be in for a carpool. Bob, you too, or do you just want to meet us there?

I hope someone else can drive because I really dont want to even attempt taking a dually down those little roads. Larry I thought you would be in Maryland by now. If you're still here Sunday you should try to make it down to shelf. Highabove, Where is that info (just dont want you to forget)? BTW, if anyone decides to go biking with Heather, you better be prepared. She left my azz in the dust. Gimme a couple of weeks and maybe I can keep up. Rob

Good question, I would need to be back by 4:00 or 5:00 myself I guess to let my dog out, so 6:00 should be no problem for you. There is a possibility of three or four people from denver and two people from the gym who are also coming, we may be in shortage of vehicles, hmmmm. I will climbing at catslab today, maybe I'll see some of you there.
