I'll be the first. I have a regular partner for climbs on the Escarpment, but there is often room for an extra person. So far we've been climbing easy top-roped routes in the 5.5-5.8 range just about every weekend since mid-March. We're always looking to expand our circle of people to climb with. I also would like to start seconding some easy trad some time this year. PM me anytime if you're interested. Thanks, George.

I currently have a lot of time on my hands but few free partners. Looking for someone who likes to climb hard! I am currently trying to push my trad leading skills (5.10ish). I also don’t mind sport and bouldering. I have a car, full rack, rope and crash pad (I have too much gear :D ). I can climb anytime weekdays + weekends. I am also up for any road trips. Give me a shout if you are interested Christiaan

The wonderful cool bug-free spring climbing is over. We were eaten alive today by black-flies and bailed after only 3 routes. Time to get out the bug jacket and pants, and the DEET. George. Itching all over.

In reply to: where did you guys go? We decided to do some slab climbing so we headed to Black Bear Slab. Belaying was absolutely miserable and climbing not much better. I have bites everywhere including a few around my eyes. George.

For some reason, the flies all congregate to those places. I have friends that went to Baby Pneu on Sunday and just got eaten alive! Bugs were nice in the Dacks on Sunday!

In reply to: Hi, I'm looking for somebody to climb with in the Luskville region next week, and the one after. Anyone interested? Pierre. Hi Pierre, It would help if you mentioned what type of climbing you want to do. My partner and I will probably be heading to Calabogie with the Alpine Club http://www.angelfire.com/...ottawa/climbing.html either Saturday or Sunday, and to Bon Echo next weekend. If you're an Alpine Club member you might want to consider Calabogie. George.

I personally don't climb at anywhere near your level. You should have some success finding a partner for this weekend posting a request to the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GatineauClimbing/ mailing list. Calabogie is ~1hr west of Ottawa, Bon Echo is ~2hrs. I'm mainly going to Calabogie to learn the way in to the crag as it is apparently not easy to find. Bon Echo has some of the best multi-pitch trad climbing in Ontario. Contact the trip organizers Glenn Stowe and Al Dimond respectively if you want to attend. Their contact info is on the ACC Ottawa website. George.

In reply to: About the second part of your message, I'm a member of the Fédération Québécoise de la montagne et de l'escalade. I think we hare afiliated with the Canadian alpine club. As a member of the ACC, all I can say is god, I hope not.

Howdy! I too am looking for partners to climb in and around the Ottawa area. My situation: 1) I have a beginning rack + rope so am able to do *easy* trad routes (and set up TRs) 2) I have loads of free time at the moment (newly back in area, looking for work) so am quite flexible. 3) Interested in bouldering, TRing, Leading, and seconding an experienced leader. 4) I am completely at the mercy of the public transport system... My priority at the moment is to find partners for TRing indoors (and eventually leading in doors). Alternatively I'm keen to do some outdoor stuff as well. Preferably seconding and maybe the odd easy trad lead. -david

Too late for outdoors?? Never!! I'm hoping to be outdoors this weekend to do a little bit of trad leading. Hopefully someone will be available! As for lead at Coyote, i'm up for it. Usually there on Tuesdays and Thursdays but won't be there tonite because of darn physio. Knees need to be A-ok for Mt Logan!
