to all you self absorbed chumps that have believed and help to spread any of the following rumours without any actual knowledge... Rouhling is a liar Rouhling is an egomaniac Rouhling has a +7 ape index All of Rouhlings routes can only be climbed by someone who has a +7 ape index Rouhling never climbed Akira Rouhling has never had any proof of any of his ascents Akira is chipped Akira is horrible Akira could not be that hard and any and all permutations of the above... go and read the article in this month's Climbing, then come back and apologize, then go away and never spread garabage on here again. have a nice day.

In reply to: I apologize, I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.... There is an article in the new issue of Climbing Magazine about Fred Roughling. I have not read it yet, but I intend to. Bustloose is commenting on how people diss Fred without factual basis, and that after reading said article said people will realise that they are jackasses.

I read that article. It was interesting to see how many of those myths have been debunked. Perhaps now more people will see Fred Rouhling as one of the best rock climbers of the last 15 years.

just for general interest sake, i dug some of these up... Posted by howieehrlich:
In reply to: Just a thought about the two so called "5.15"'s prior to Realization. Akira is in a bat filled cave and all the holds are drilled for the maker's (cant remember name) +7 inch ape index. Posted by overlord
In reply to: im not sure, but didnt rouhling drill some holes on akira??? Posted by bsperes
In reply to: Fred R has a massive (+7?) ape index, and sets routes that way (rather than pick a natural line). It is a boulder problem, a long one, but still. posted by metoliusmunchin
In reply to: I do not know much of Akira. What I do know is that the controversy surrounding it lies not so much in its grade than in its "manufacturedness." I heard that Akira was mostly a manufactured route posted by fivetenman
In reply to: junkie, Two reasons why Akira isn't the hardest route in the world 1. Akira is just long boulder problem 2. Akiras all drilled Get your facts straight posted by xanx
In reply to: that would be Akira, by Fred Roughling (sp?). proposed 9b way before Realization. there was more than one problem, however: i don't think anyone else really tried the route (Yuri might have taken a few rides on it, but i don't think he really worked it). also, i have heard it is artificial - some of the holds are chipped/drilled (or glued?) into the wall, and the whole thing is set for Fred's +7 (sick!) ape index. edit - stupid bleedin HTML quotey crap...

i swear to god, it's like talking to houseplants. if you don't care, or you think you're too cool to respond then keep it to yourself. climbsomthing, i thought you were smarter than that. Fred is a peer in the climbing community who has nothing but bad press and negative rumours, he finally he gets a chance to prove that he is not a liar or chipper (among other things) and all you people can do is miss the point and act like this is a waste of time. pathetic.

Aren't you the guy who made up a completely bogus post about Sylvain Millet downgrading Realization, trying to marginalize both his and Sharma's accomplishments? Hmm...who's spreading garbage around here?

I look forward to reading it, imagine if all the hype and press around Sharma's send of Realization instead went to Fred years ago, what a difference that could have made to his career. All I know at the moment is that there are rumours and stories on both sides, hopefully this article will clear it up at least a little.

I heard somewhere that Rouhling is a liar, an egomaniac, has a +7 ape index, and that Akira is just a long boulder problem full of drilled and chipped holds. Is that true? :?

If ape index is any indication of how hard you can climb, I should be climbing hella harder than I do. Mine is +6. Look forward to reading the article. k.

to all you self absorbed chumps that have believed and help to spread any of the following rumours without any actual knowledge... Rouhling is French. Rouhling is smelly. Rouhling has a pet ape named index. All of Rouhlings routes can only be climbed by someone who has a pet ape Rouhling has never climbed. Rouhling has never had any proof of any of his ascents, except for the ape Akira is a Japanese movie. Japanese movies are horrible. Roughling watches Japanese movies. Roughling could not be that hard if he watches Japanese movies. Roughling's name rhymes with 'bowling' Roughling doesn't even bowl. and any and all permutations of the above... go and read the article in this month's issue of 'I Love Fred' magazine, then come back and apologize, then go away and never spread garbage on here again. have a nice day.
